We are excited to announce that while our two-year CHAA pilot is coming to a close on 30 June, we have been successful in receiving an Empowering Multicultural Community Projects grant from Multicultural Affairs, Queensland Government. This is exciting news for our CHAA community as it means we can continue coordinating CHAA and supporting the incredible work happening across our community to build family peace.
CHAA facilitates more inclusive, resilient and cohesive communities by supporting community groups to be more intentional in the way they care for one another. It helps everyday people build the confidence and capability to step in early, hold space for healing and help break the cycle of harm.
We refer to these groups as Pods, where facilitators and natural helpers receive training, coaching and resources from our CHAA Hub.
Through the pilot, we have seen this model offer a transformative cultural shift, fostering long-term healing through community connection. CHAA permeates the boundaries around services and builds the confidence and capability of everyday people to join together in creating peaceful families and safe communities.
We are most thankful for the support of our Patron, Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner, and our local MP for Inala, Margie Nightingale, for their unwavering support and advocacy for CHAA.
If you would like to know more about CHAA, please contact us at [email protected] or visit ich.org.au/chaa.

We were so grateful to have Senait join us at our CHAA End of Pilot Celebration, where she shared the beautiful tradition of Eritrean coffee making with our community ββ€οΈ
For Senait, preparing coffee is much more than making a drink. It is a treasured cultural practice that reflects hospitality, connection and care. She lovingly prepares coffee for her family at home and generously shares her skills at community events, creating opportunities for people to come together and learn from one another.
Her contribution was a wonderful reminder of the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. Celebrating cultural traditions helps build understanding, connection and belonging, and it's something we are proud to embrace across our community, including at the upcoming Inala Multicultural Festival.
Thank you, Senait, for helping make our CHAA End of Pilot Celebration such a warm and memorable occasion π
