“Why does my credit score drop when I apply for something?”

Short answer: because that’s exactly how credit scores work.

Every application, even utilities or phone plans, causes a temporary dip.

That doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong.

The key part most people miss:

As long as you’re not constantly applying, your score naturally recovers over the next few months.
