🐾 A Heartwarming Rescue by Officer Josh 🐾

Last week, while responding to a job, Officer Josh came across an injured wombat on the side of the road. Knowing that wombats often carry young in their pouches, he carefully checked for any joeys and made an incredible discovery—a tiny joey was still safely tucked inside.

Officer Josh gently removed the joey and kept her warm, secure, and protected while arrangements were made for specialist wildlife care. The joey was then safely handed over to the dedicated team at Wildings Woodend Wildlife Shelter, where it will receive the care and support it needs.

A wonderful example of compassion and quick thinking, ensuring this little joey has the best chance at a healthy future. 💙

Thank you to Wildings Woodend Wildlife Shelter for the amazing work they do caring for our native wildlife, and well done to Officer Josh for going above and beyond to help one of our most vulnerable little Australians.

⛰👮‍♂️THE CHIEF AT MACEDON 👮‍♂️⛰

🔹 Chief Commissioner Mike BUSH visited the Macedon Police Station to chat about regional policing in the Macedon Ranges - definitely not to sample Leading Senior Constable WOODS’ famous biscuits.

🔹 The conversation flowed with single member officers Ryan MITCHELL from Riddells Creek, Steve DAVIES from Lancefield, along with Sergeant Knight from Kyneton.

🔹 There were plenty of discussions about improvements to community safety in rural areas.

🔹 We appreciate Chief Commissioner Mike BUSH for taking the time to listen to our locals & looking for ways to improve our policing response.

🚨 WOODEND: LONG WEEKEND = LONGER MEMORY 🚨

With the long weekend and Operation Regal in full swing, our members were out and about in Woodend keeping a close eye on road safety… and one driver definitely caught our attention 👀

📍 A vehicle was detected travelling at 90km/h in a signed 60km/h zone on High Street, Woodend. Not ideal… but it gets better (or worse, depending how you look at it).

❌ The driver was also found to be driving while suspended.
🚗 Result? The vehicle took an unexpected extended holiday of its own – impounded on the spot for 30 days, at a cost of $1175

So while most people are enjoying a break, this driver is now enjoying a break from their car… and a date with the Magistrate 📅

👉 Speeding and driving while suspended aren’t just risky – they put everyone else on the road at risk too.
Please do the right thing this long weekend:
✔ Slow down
✔ Make it home safely

Because we’d much rather see you at your destination… not in court.

🚨 SLOW DOWN AND STAY SAFE 🚨

🚔 Officers from Kyneton observed a Holden Commodore travelling at an alleged speed of 142km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Melbourne-Lancefield Road, Lancefield at 1.22am on 4 June 2026.

🚔The 18-year-old P plater was fined $865 and had her licence suspended for 6 months.

🚔This is a timely reminder for everyone to slow down and take extra care on the roads during the King’s Birthday long weekend.

Last week, Kyneton Police Station had the pleasure of welcoming Jackson to the station for his work experience placement.
An aspiring police officer in the making, Jackson got stuck in from day one. He had the chance to try his hand at dusting and lifting fingerprints, learning just how much patience and attention to detail good police work takes. He also got to see how our speed detection laser works – a firm favourite.
It’s always great to see young people so motivated and enthusiastic about a future in policing. If his work ethic and curiosity are anything to go by, we might just be working alongside Officer Jackson in a few years’ time. Well done Jackson!

Out on Patrol in Woodend!

As part of his patrol duties, Sgt ARNOLD from Woodend Police Station did the rounds at the local monthly market.

Braemar College were at the market helping the community combat Woodend’s woolly weather with a raffle of firewood. Sgt ARNOLD was all too happy to help with the draw.

Quotes attributable to Sgt ARNOLD - “I bought several delicious foodstuffs at the market. Not a single donut was consumed”.

He also didn’t win the firewood…

Maybe next month Sgt ARNOLD!
