Surf coast trek 2026. Was a perfect day, couldn't have asked for better weather. 17* and cloudy, I did the 23km trek and it was a awesome walk.

Raising money for the give where you live foundation and kids plus, there is still time to donate if you can i'll post a link below.

For anyone thinking about doing it next year I recommend a good pair of hiking shoes, backpack and treking poles and dress for weather on the day of course.

Thanks to my cheer squad, my wife and kids meet me just before the finish line and helped with the final push across the finish line.

ADA Brimboal 2026 branch camp recap (youtube video coming soon)

Friday 10/4/26

Up at 4am this morning to head off to the ADA branch camp in brimboal which is close to the south Australian border so that explains the early wake up.

I arrived in camp at about 8.30am got set up and headed off for a hunt. Spent about 4 hours looking around but didnt see anything so headed back to camp for a break before heading off again about 3pm.

No luck again probably doesn't help its cold and wet and the wind is making life hard. Did see some emu's and kangaroos and even some other hunters that were staying camp so had a quick chat before heading off and of course on the way back to camp I did see a doe on the side of the road but took off before I get out of the car.

Dinner tonight is a back country cuisine Thai chicken curry, comes freeze dried and all you have to do is add boiling water, simple and tasty!!

Distance covered 8.8km

Saturday 11/4/26

Up at 5.00am this morning for a quick breakfast of Yoghurt and Musli.

Pulled up just before first light and straight away could hear a buck croaking a fair way off so I headed up into the bush to try and locate it.

On the way a small buck crossed the road in front of me and headed into the bush so I tried to follow but couldn't find him, it'samazinghow fast they disappear!!

So I spent a few hours looking around and was sitting on a log having a snack and a doe walked out in front of me maybe about 30m away, managed to get some video but couldn't get a shot.

The rest of the afternoon I didnt see anything else and came back to camp about 6pm for a beer and paella for dinner. Was delicious!!

Distance covered 7.1km

Sunday 12/4/26

Up at 5.30am again, hard to get out of bed this morning as it's so cold but at least it wasn't raining.

Headed out to where I heard the buck yesterday but was quiet this morning so only spent a couple of hours looking around before heading back to camp to back up and head home.

Arrived back home at about 2.00pm, was a good trip even though the conditions weren't great.

Distance covered 7.7

Total distance 23.6km.

Tried taking things a lot slower this year, focusing on being quite and taking my time and this is reflected in the distance I covered.

We had a ADA branch meeting last Thursday (16/4/26) and our guest speaker was Geoff Rayment.

He is the owner of down under out doors and was featuring a product that is great for vehicle, fire wood or animal recovery.

So what's the product?

It's a winch that is towed by your vehicle and you simply run out the line to the vehicle, animal or wood you want to recover and drag it out.

He has 2 varieties a light duty winch and a heavy duty winch.

The light is weight version comes with 200m of 7mm UHMWPE WINCH ROPE 5.5 ton rating, specifically for game, logs and light off-road vehicles, Buggies and ATV’s.

The heavy version comes with 170 m of 10mm UHMWPE WINCH ROPE 10.5 ton, greater strength and durability for game, large logs, rocks and heavy 4x4’s.

Now what he showed us was how they use this winch to recover deer, simply attach the rope and drag it out of the bush.

Check out his youtube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6o_b00YoMus

Great for those who shoot a lot of animals and have limited vehicle access.

This is a great example of why if your interested in Hunting join your local ada branch, get to meet people and get hands on with some awesome products and discounts 😉
