It’s funny that they forgot to mention that it was Geelong field and game that actually built the wetland in question in the 80’s. We continue to work for the best environmental outcome for the site to today. Not one anti duck hunting activist sighted since the season ended , at least we get to do our conservation work in peace with out being filmed from the car park by the so called duck rescue.

We have been in this fight for a long time and we continue to be so. With dirty housing estate water still freely entering the the ramsar listed wetland we will continue to fight to maintain the ecological character of the site that we built.

A productive working bee was held yesterday, where significant progress was made in the wetland despite the weather conditions. Our efforts were focused on proactive management of the wetland flora to create a thriving environment for wildlife, particularly in anticipation of our acquisition of a water licence, which is proving to be a challenging process. Additionally, upgrades were made to the Australian Hunting Archives Building. As the breeding season approaches, we will intensify our predator management activities to optimize the chances of successful breeding.

The 2026 season drew to a close 30 minutes after sunset, and tonight's events underscored the true commitment of hunter conservationists. While 8 animal activists drove by a dumping ground, it was a hunter who stopped to collect the discarded waste. Meanwhile, the activists were preoccupied with editing video footage for social media, those dedicated to building, improving, and protecting wetlands were making a tangible impact. We won't see these activists until next duck season, but our work in the wetlands will continue year-round.
