In February of 2024, I was put in touch with Maui-based author Victoria Moore, who was documenting the community relief efforts after the wildfires that devastated Lahaina and parts of upcountry Maui, Hawaii, in August 2023. I volunteered to join the project and design the book, "Big Hearts on a Little Island", pro-bono, possibly slightly underestimating the monumental effort it would take over the following 7 months - but I am so glad I did.

The people of Maui rallied together in a truly awe-inspiring way to help those affected by the fires, and even at 250 pages the book still only covers a portion of the efforts. The stories that Victoria expertly compiled are so uplifting, and restore some of my faith in humanity by demonstrating that even in the face of terrible loss, people will help one another.

I am so proud of the book, and I hope it can be a meaningful contribution to the Maui community as it continues with its recovery.

Big Hearts on a Little Island was launched on Thursday and is available now from bigheartsonalittleisland.com - U.S. only currently, but hopefully internationally in the coming months. All profits are donated to rebuilding the Lahaina Public Library.

After 5 years of being the design partner for the Geelong Business Excellence Awards, in 2024 I have also joined the official judging panel. It has been a really interesting experience so far learning about all the fantastic businesses in Geelong, and now as we meet with the finalists in person it's exciting to speak with the amazing people behind these businesses and get an insight into the way they do things. 🥔🥔🥔 More potato content for - because for some reason I have more than one potato-related thing to post. This simple potato illustration for a poster promoting the Lara Easter Market hosted by genU led to some of my favourite ever client feedback: "This was the best thing to happen all week, and now I want a hot potato."

Did you know that May 30 is International Day of Potato? No really, it's not even a "made up by the marketing department" thing, but officially designated celebration from the UN general assembly! So to celebrate, here is some potato content 🥔

This adorable guy is "Jagata-kun" [じゃが太くん] - which roughly translates to "little fat potato boy". He is the official mascot of Kutchan town in Hokkaido, Japan. He's rugged up and (usually) wearing skis, because every winter Kutchan fills up with tourists ready to go skiing on the famous nearby Niseko ski resort; and he's a potato because in the off-season Kutchan is best known for its potato crops - they even have an annual potato festival "Jyagamatsuri" [じゃがまつり] (see pic 2)

These graphics are excerpts from the award-winning cookbook Harvest Niseko by Tess Stomski and Chisato Amagai, which was designed by Entity Studio's director Aaron De Wit, with photography by Yasuyuki Shimanuki, Aaron Jamieson Photography, and Junichi Miyazaki. It has a whole chapter dedicated to potatoes, with the recipes that accompany these mouth-watering food photos, as well as an interview with a local Niseko potato farmer.

Their talented and diversely experienced team of psychologists and clinicians are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals of all ages. Such is their dedication, that they even provide outreach services to rural & regional areas like Portland and Far North Queensland to help everyone get access to the care they need!

Entity worked with Bellarine Psychology to establish their brand strategy, adapt their existing logo into a broad visual identity that can be both serious and fun, and appeal to both adults and kids, and to build a new website focusing on providing guidance to people navigating what can be a confusing and personally challenging experience.

🐝 It's world bee day! Much like real bees, this bee was a tiny but important part of a bigger picture. Unfortunately, the event this bee-longs to was cancelled - but you can still enjoy it today!

It has been a busy couple of weeks for !
