It is easy to put everyone and everything else first. Work, family, responsibilities, the people who rely on us. Self-care can feel like one more thing on the list, or worse, something we don't deserve.
But looking after yourself is not indulgent. It is necessary.

In Mental Health Group yesterday, participants took part in a wellbeing check-in and wrote a letter to their future selves ✍
It is a simple but powerful exercise. Putting words to where you are right now, who you want to become and what you hope for yourself creates a kind of quiet accountability, and a reminder that the future is still being written.
Letters shared with permission of the participants.

This week in Addiction Support, we will be exploring good decision making and how to cope with regret. The ability to make decisions is fundamental to moving forward in life, but not every decision will be the right one, and that is okay.
This week we will look at how to approach decisions thoughtfully and how to process and move on from the ones that didn't go as planned, without letting them define us.
This week Mental Health Group and Women's Group will explore self-care and what it truly means to look after ourselves.
Our physical, mental and social wellbeing all have a profound impact on how we experience life and our place in it. When we neglect our own needs, we become more vulnerable to poor coping strategies and find it harder to show up as our best selves.
This week both groups will explore what self-care looks like in a practical, everyday sense and the small but meaningful changes that can make a real difference.

"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek."
- Joseph Campbell
What is the treasure you seek?
Is it someone who truly understands what you are going through? Someone to hold you accountable? A sense of belonging and connection? The tools to rebuild your confidence, your health and your life? Employment opportunities? A community that does not judge?
We understand that taking the first step is the hardest part. Opening up, sharing your story, walking through a door you have never walked through before, that takes real courage.
Many of us at PIYP have walked through that same door ourselves. Our staff bring lived experience to everything they do, because we know what it feels like to be where you are. We have been there. We have felt that fear. And we found what was waiting on the other side.
The treasure is real, and it is waiting for you too.
If you have been thinking about joining us, we would love to welcome you for the final weeks of Term 2. Reach out to us via phone or email, message us on here, or simply come in and see us at the centre 🩵

Today our Community Connection group headed to Torquay for a coastal walk and some time by the ocean 🌊
It is a simple thing on the surface but for many of our participants, getting out into the community, moving their bodies and experiencing something beautiful is a meaningful part of the recovery process.
Community connection is not just a program name at PIYP, it is a core belief that belonging to something beyond four walls is essential to long term wellbeing and independence.
Well done to everyone on another epic week!

A huge thank you to the APCO Foundation for their generous ongoing support.
The APCO Foundation have kindly donated monthly fuel vouchers to keep our homeless outreach van on the road. We are incredibly grateful 🙏

It is a great night with guest speakers, amazing food, auctions, raffles, live music and dancing, but more than that, it is a chance to directly impact the lives of people in your own community.

Last Friday, our Community Connection and New Directions groups headed out to visit Kelly at Neigh Worries 🐴
The group got to meet the horses, donkeys and dogs on the farm and experience the magic of equine therapy firsthand. There is something about being around animals that quiets the noise and brings you back to the present moment.
A beautiful morning out in the community!
