Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. For people experiencing homelessness it impacts every aspect of their lives. It doesn't have to be this way.
Demand for homelessness services in Canberra is rising.

Community Options congratulates the ACT Government on the 2026–27 Budget.
We are pleased to see continued investment in our region and initiatives that support stronger communities across Canberra and the surrounding area.
Our team enjoyed attending the ACT Business Chamber Budget Lunch and hearing more about the Government’s vision for the year ahead. We look forward to continuing to work alongside government and local partners to support positive outcomes for our community.

Community Options has submitted a response to the Senate Inquiry into the May 2026 National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.
We believe sustainable reform of the NDIS must occur alongside substantial investment in foundational supports, navigation services, and transition pathways to ensure vulnerable Australians are not displaced into crisis systems as a result of reform implementation.
Meaningful reform must protect the rights, wellbeing, and inclusion of people with disability while strengthening long-term community support systems.

National Reconciliation Week is an important time for Australians to come together to recognise and strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect, listen, learn, and take meaningful action toward reconciliation in our communities.
In Canberra, we also acknowledge the significance of Reconciliation Day - a public holiday unique to the ACT that encourages all of us to engage in truth-telling, respect, and unity.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present and celebrate the strength and resilience of First Nations peoples.
Following the recent Women and Newborn Community Support Program (WNCSP) stakeholder roundtable held in Canberra on 6 May 2026, Community Options has welcomed valuable feedback from referral partners and sector stakeholders as part of the program’s ongoing evaluation. Case Manager Debbie Moger answers questions about the roundtable feedback.

Our CEO, Brendan Taber, is taking part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, he'll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way.
To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, we need your support. Will you help to reach our target? Donating $100 can make a huge difference to people who need it most.

This year’s theme for National Palliative Care Week 2026 (10–16 May) is “Getting to the heart of it: Big Questions. Real Answers.” It’s a gentle reminder to start the conversations that matter most.
Every day in Australia, around 400 people die from a terminal illness - yet many don’t access palliative care early enough.
At Community Options, our Palliative Care Program supports people to remain at home, with dignity, comfort, and the right support around them.
We also support families and carers - helping them navigate what can be an overwhelming and emotional time.
💬 What matters most to you?
💬 Where do you feel most comfortable?
💬 What support do you need?
This week is a reminder that conversation changes everything. Read more about it on our website: https://pulse.ly/7rlnryqanq
