PG Gallery is pleased to present Noteworthy, an exhibition by Zo Damage.

Noteworthy explores Melbourne’s live music culture through a series of abstract monoprints. Each work is created from two copper plates—one representing the creative sector, the other community—layered together to express the deeply entwined nature of culture.

Working in collaboration with Melbourne musicians, Zo Damage uses broken and discarded musical equipment as etching tools, creating intricate, interweaving marks that speak to the endurance, resilience, and interconnectedness of musicians and their communities.

Choosing the right frame for your artwork is essential as it can enhance the qualities of your work and create a significant impact in your space.

Accentuate your artwork: The goal is to choose framing options that accentuate and highlight the unique features of your artwork. One way to achieve this is by selecting a complimentary matboard and mounting option. For certain works, float style mounting can be particularly effective. This technique involves mounting the artwork in a way that allows the deckle edges (the rough edges of handmade paper) to be visible, giving it a contemporary and artistic touch.

Create harmony: When selecting frames, mats, and mounting options, it's important to create a sense of harmony that complements your artwork. Choose color mats and frames that harmonise with your artwork, highlighting its colors, shapes, and textures. This allows the viewer's eye to be drawn directly to the artwork itself rather than being distracted by the framing. Consider the overall color palette of your space as well. If you have teak floorboards and warm white wall colors or brick textures, you can use these elements as inspiration when selecting your frame.
