Tzield is approved for use in Australia for people with stage 2 type 1 diabetes.
But how do you find out if you have stage 2 type 1 diabetes?
The first step is to find out if you have type 1 diabetes related autoantibodies. These autoantibodies can be detected on a simple screening blood test. offers free autoantibody screening to all people in Australia who have a family member with type 1 diabetes and areover 2 years old. The test is simple and can be done in the comfort of your own home. For more information, visit their website at https://type1screen.org.

New ATIC Video Resource | ATIC 28/05/2026

It was fantastic to feel the excitement about the approval of Tzield for use in Australia yesterday!
For many people, this was the first time they’ve heard the term “immunotherapy” in relation to type 1 diabetes. So, what does it actually mean?
At ATIC, we’ve created a short video explaining:
• what immunotherapy is,
• how it works in type 1 diabetes,
• the stages of type 1 diabetes,
• and how research is changing the future of care
Watch the video here: https://atic.svi.edu.au/news-events/new-video-resource/
This approval marks an exciting new era moving from managing type 1 diabetes to potentially delaying disease progression itself.
