What an incredible week it was at the Queensland State Championships. Ava and her Wide Bay teammates finished 2nd out of 10 teams and proudly brought home the silver medals – the first Wide Bay U12 girls’ side in 12 years to make a grand final! 👏

🏏 Grand Final Wrap-Up – QSSRC U12 Girls State Champs 🏏

Wide Bay faced Met East today in the grand final! Nerves might have gotten the better of Ava with the bat – she was dismissed by a great bowler after scoring just 2 runs.

💪 With the ball though, she shone! Ava bowled 2 overs, keeping it tight and only conceding 6 runs – a huge effort against quality batters.

Unfortunately, the Wide Bay girls went down by 10 wickets. But what an achievement this week has been! 🙌

This was a team that:

Didn’t know each other before the champs

Couldn’t train together beforehand

Had 5 girls who had never played club cricket

Yet, they stormed their way to the grand final, winning 6 out of 7 games and bringing home the silver medals 🥈 – finishing 2nd out of 10 teams. The first Wide Bay U12 girls’ team to make the finals in 12 years. 👏

For Ava, the week has been full of learning, new friendships, and the experience of playing against some of the best city girls on the big stage. She comes home proud, stronger, and with memories to last a lifetime. ❤️

🏏 Day 3 – State Champs! 🏏

Game 5 – A tough, close one against Northern QLD. Ava bowled 2 overs for just 3 runs, but her batting ended early with a catch.

Finals Round 1 – Wide Bay smashed it with 102 runs on the board 🙌. Ava didn’t get to bat, but she bowled the winning wicket with 2–1 in her first over!

Wide Bay girls stormed home with a 71-run win – 6 from 6!

🏏 Day 2 – QSS U12 Girls State Champs 🏏

🌟 Game 3 – Another strong showing from Wide Bay! With only 20 overs to play, Ava didn’t get a chance to bat as the girls were simply too good with the willow. Ava bowled a maiden over, then took a wicket in her second 👏. Win by 89 runs!

🌟 Game 4 – A little drama with Ava out injured (don’t worry, she’s back tomorrow 💪), but the rest of the girls fought hard and got up by 10 runs!

🏏 Day 1 Wrap-Up – QSS U12 Girls State Champs 🏏

The first day wasn’t without its dramas (cricket, right? 😅). Sprinklers left the turf too wet, but the girls quickly switched to the synthetic pitches and got underway.

🌟 Game 1
It wasn’t the morning for pace bowlers, with Sunshine Coast U12s showing strong batting. Wide Bay started hard with the bat – Ava smashed 2 boundaries before being bowled – and the girls held their nerve to take the win by 11 runs.

🌟 Game 2
Back on turf at Marchant Park, conditions were perfect. Wide Bay bowled Met East out for just 71 runs! Ava was sharp with the ball – her first over a maiden and just 1 run from her second 👏.

Batting at 10th, Ava was unlucky to be run out after a mix-up, but the team powered on to secure their second win of the day (final score still to come – PlayHQ wasn’t cooperating).
