Baldivis is predicted to drop to around 2°C tonight, with a “feels like” temperature below zero in the early hours. That is cold enough to start causing issues for some plumbing and hot water systems, especially solar hot water units.

Public Service Announcement: Solar Hot Water & Frost Protection

Unlike solar PV panels, solar hot water systems can have water running through internal metal pipes, often copper. When water freezes, it expands, and that pressure can cause pipes or collectors to split, crack, or burst.

Solar hot water systems usually rely on things like frost valves or a closed-loop heat-exchange fluid such as glycol/anti-freeze to help protect against freezing. If these parts are not working properly, your system may be at risk during cold snaps.

Signs to watch for include:

💧 Leaks or water running from the roof
🚿 Sudden drop in hot water temperature
⚡ Gas or electric booster running more than usual
📈 Unexpectedly high energy bills
🔧 Visible damage around the solar hot water panels or pipework

Please do not climb onto your roof to check it yourself. If you notice leaks, a loss of hot water, or anything unusual with your solar hot water system, give a licensed plumber a call.

Impressive Plumbing & Gasfitting is looking for a friendly, organised and reliable person to join our team in an admin/accounts support role.

This position reports to the General Manager and liaises with all employees across the business, as well as clients, suppliers and tradies.

We’re a flexible, family-friendly plumbing business based in East Rockingham, and this role is perfect for someone wanting school-hour work, variety in their day, and the ability to work from home — trackies and Uggs welcome!

The role includes:

✅ Daily bank reconciliations
✅ Weekly debt collection follow-up
✅ Plumbing compliance submissions
✅ Client portal reports and invoice submissions
✅ Assisting with scheduling for around 2 hours per day while our scheduler is out of the office
✅ Answering phone calls and managing client enquiries
✅ Liaising with employees, clients, suppliers and tradesmen
✅ General admin support for the team

We’re looking for someone who:

✔ Has a minimum of 5 years’ admin experience
✔ Is friendly, easy-going and professional
✔ Can work autonomously and as part of a team
✔ Is confident juggling phone calls, emails and competing priorities
✔ Is great with clients and tradies
✔ Has a good sense of humour and can handle the classic tradie banter — including the occasional plumbing-related “poo” joke!

Experience with Xero and ServiceM8 would be a strong advantage. Experience in the construction industry is also highly regarded, and plumbing industry experience would be a bonus.
