A recent Government News article revealed that many councils continue to face significant cybersecurity gaps despite growing threats and compliance obligations.

For local government, a cyber incident can mean more than data loss. It can disrupt essential community services, damage public trust, and create significant recovery costs. Read the article: https://www.governmentnews.com.au/councils-failing-on-cybersecurity/

Happy International Women in Engineering Day!

This year's INWED theme is . And nowhere is that more fitting than in cybersecurity, where the cleverest minds are the strongest defence.

As AI reshapes the threat landscape, the engineers building our defences need to be sharper and more adaptive than ever. Women in cyber are already doing that work: engineering smarter detections, leading high-stakes response teams, and architecting the systems protecting Australian organisations every day.

At Red Piranha, we know that diversity of thought isn't a nice-to-have. In security, it's a genuine operational advantage.

To every woman engineering a safer digital world - your work is seen, and this industry is better because you're in it.

The Gentlemen Ransomware: Threat Intelligence Analysis, TTPs & Detection Guide | Red Piranha 22/06/2026

The Gentlemen ransomware is active. The real question is not how much intelligence you have, but how fast it turns into protection. Red Piranha has been tracking The Gentlemen since our September 2025 threat intelligence report, providing customers with early detection and protection as the group's tooling and TTPs have evolved. Ransomware groups don't operate on static playbooks. They shift infrastructure, rotate tooling, and exploit gaps faster than most security teams can respond to manually.

This is where threat intelligence has to evolve from being informational to being operational.

With Red Piranha Crystal Eye's Automated Actionable Intelligence (AAI), threat intelligence is continuously transformed into real-time defensive capability.

AAI helps organisations:
➡️ Identify emerging threats early through continuous intelligence collection and analysis
➡️ Convert threat intelligence into actionable detections without manual rule-writing delays
➡️ Automatically protect, detect and respond to known malware families while tracking evolving threat actors
➡️ Deliver contextual intelligence directly into the Crystal Eye platform for faster, informed response decisions

As an official member of Cyber Threat Alliance, Red Piranha combines collaborative insights with continuous internal research to strengthen detection and response outcomes for customers.

Against campaigns like The Gentlemen ransomware, this means earlier detection of malicious activity, faster response cycles, and reduced opportunity for encryption or data exfiltration.

Threat Intelligence Report June 9 to June 15, 2026 18/06/2026

3AM is a Rust-based, 64-bit ransomware family that first emerged in 2023 and was first publicly documented in September 2023, when it was deployed as a fallback after an affiliate attempted to deploy LockBit and was blocked. In that original incident, the operators managed to deploy 3AM to only three machines, but it was blocked on two of them. The strain is human-operated: operators must specify command-line parameters explicitly for each payload.

Threat Intelligence Report June 9 to June 15, 2026 In this report, we detected 4 new threats: ClickFix, Lumma Stealer, PackClient RAT and SocGholish. This week’s ransomware in focus is 3AM Ransomware.

Borderless Firewalling and Hybrid Mesh Firewall for Zero Trust Security 17/06/2026

Your NGFW sees north-south traffic. Your EDR platform sees the endpoint. Your CASB sees Software-as-a-Service applications. But who sees the attacker's path between them?

Modern attacks no longer respect traditional security boundaries, and the firewall protecting against them cannot either. This is the foundation of Borderless Firewalling: security enforcement that follows users, applications and data wherever they move, rather than relying on a perimeter that attackers abandoned long ago.

The Crystal Eye Hybrid Mesh Firewall delivers this approach through a single inspection engine and unified policy framework spanning physical appliances, virtual environments and cloud infrastructure. Powered by the Unified Cybersecurity Management Intelligence platform, it correlates IOCs, TTPs, and User and Entity Behaviour Analytics into a single source of intelligence and evidence. Every edge operates as the same firewall. Every edge shares visibility. Every edge can act on what any other edge discovers.

The result is an integrated TDIR across the entire environment. Ransomware communications are blocked before C2 channels are established. Lateral movement is disrupted before it becomes an incident. Cloud pivots are detected before attackers gain persistence. DNS tunnelling, encrypted C2 traffic and other advanced attack techniques are identified as part of a connected attack narrative, not isolated alerts.

One firewall. Every edge. One security decision. Read more: https://redpiranha.net/news/borderless-firewalling-circumvent-cyber-kill-chain-apts?utm_source=mkt&utm_medium=socials&utm_campaign=HMF
