Peter Cupples - Stylus

PETER CUPPLES is the former lead singer and songwriter of ‘STYLUS’ – the Australian blue-eyed soul band who became the first ‘all white band’ to be signed by the US Motown label, Tamala. Peter first came to prominence with Stylus in 1975, releasing four albums with hits such as ‘Summer Breeze’ and ‘World of Make Believe’ before the band split in 1980. A successful solo career followed throughout the 80’s, with a top 20 hit for his first release, ‘Fear of Thunder’, and success with the song ‘Blame it on the Weather’ – not only for Peter but also for John Farnham, whose voice, incidentally, Peter’s soaring vocals are often compared to. Peter also became a regular on TV shows such as The Midday Show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Tonight Live, and Carols by Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl. Other albums released include ‘Still Alive’ (with a reformed Stylus); ‘Changes’, ‘Bac2basix’ – a roots album filled with wonderful storytelling songs such as ‘Pioneers’, ‘Family’ and the ‘Poor Man’s Al Jolson; a jazz standards album, ‘About Time’; and ‘Home Grown’ – Peter’s own tribute to some of his favourite Aussie artists. Over the last decade, Peter has toured both solo and with Stylus, and with his close friend, Australian rock legend, the late Jon English. Their collaborative show, Uncorked’, filled with nostalgia and good humoured banter, delighted audiences everywhere throughout Australia. Peter works with many charities and has written songs for the ‘Make a Wish Foundation’ and the ‘Sacred Heart Foundation’.

THE PARDONERS - " Better Be Home Soon " - 14/05/2016 15/04/2017

*Meet our Artists*

The Pardoners - Glynn Mason & Sam See

The Pardoners are Glyn Mason and Sam See. They have been stalwarts of the Australian music scene for a helluva long time. Bands they have contributed to include The Rebels, Sherbet, Chain, Copperwine, Flying Circus, Fraternity, Ariel, Home, Goanna, John Farnham, and, of course, Stockley, See and Mason. As we recall it, in the Middle Ages Pardoners were licensed by the church to sell Papal Indulgences to the faithful. These indulgences were supposed to expiate the sins of the faithful. The irony was the Pardoners were often committing the same sins, by the bucketload, they were supposed to be pardoning. They released 'Live From The Vault' as Sam See and Glyn Mason, recorded before a select audience at Sound Vault's studio in January, 2004. It showed off their live repertoire of 2004-5, which consisted largely of covers of favourite songs given a unique, tenderised and marinated, Pardonerised treatment. (No MSG was used in the making of that recording) "There are no rough edges here, simply a ton of finesse. Damn if it don't sound like a good time." Shane Nichols, Australian Financial Review The pair adopted the Pardoners as their brand when they released their first critically-acclaimed album of original songs in 2007.

THE PARDONERS - " Better Be Home Soon " - 14/05/2016 At The Corner Hotel Richmond.
