New YSS shocks are fitted... 30mm shorter than stock with front end also lowered 15mm.
Much easier to balance with my short legs and dodgy knee when stationary.
Took it for a ride this morning....very happy now that I can have my feet firmly on the ground when regularly stopping in city traffic.

With my short stocky build and with the Thruxton's tall seat height I cannot plant my feet firmly on the ground while stationary.... becoming a problem with dodgy knees.
Just ordered a set of YSS shocks... possibly inferior to the stock Ohlins, but available up to 30mm shorter than stock.... I can lower the front forks 15mm - 20mm and then I can have my feet planted firmly on the ground.

Ready for a high speed blast in the morning.... Cool dry season weather and light Monday public holiday traffic

Time to let the engine seriously breathe.
Only 1700km after 2 years.... so why worry about a bit of dust in the intake.... let's get maximum performance along with the great intake/exhaust sound..
Currently I think the Free Spirit filters are too close to the heat from the cylinder head.... so we move the intake up and away from the head and into the wind...
While working an 84 hour week driving Uber, I get very little free time to ride.... I don't ride in the rain or at night.... so it will be many years before the engine is worn out from dust intake...
I am 74 years old and only have a few riding years left anyway...

Haven't had a ride since Christmas Day.... Been driving Uber car for12 hours x 7 days a week.
4am start on Sunday, finish 4pm...so if no rain it is off for a long, fast ride Sunday evening

Christmas day and the family is in Indonesia.... just finished a 12 hour Uber driving shift....
I have been working 12 hour days, nightshift, 7 days a week trying to get ahead...
My beautifully modified Triumph Thruxton has not been ridden for 2 months.
Do I go to sleep be ready for the Monday night shift or do I ride this superb machine..... Very fast ..... good for flat out at 240kmh.
Stuff the Chrissy night shift..... took the Thruxton for a 200km Christmas day open road blast..... no traffic, no cops..... paradise for an 74 year old motorcyclist who is not the rider he used to be.... but still loves the thrill of a flat out blast....
