Fizbits, Fizbits, Fizbits. . . the intense web tech security/dysfunction rollercoaster of the week before last has abated, , , ((thank goodness))!!

I am so lucky, because I have started working with a WordPress developer, and so these catastrophic events are a bit less stressful now.

To be honest, after one too many scares, my threat system refused to rise to the occasion. And I simply went through the process of working with my mate Darryl and our web host to get the sites back up (with my stress levels intact).

My dream is to use the skills I have learned over the past 13 years of practice to contribute to the founding of a collective (coop) of tech workers to collaboratively solve tech problems, and deliver solutions. I am looking for 10 - 100 people who are knowledgeable in the tech/startup/business space.

If you are a tech worker, please reach out. Or you know someone who works in tech. . . Could you please share this post with them?

I was so lucky to have a mentoring session with Sara from Affarisp last week. She helped me clarify the mission-critical things that I need to do to move my business forward.

Surprise, surprise, one of the first things on my list is to work on my website. Are you looking to improve your business website this year?

So delighted that some new committee members joined Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness at their last AGM. Someone even stepped up as treasurer! This means that this wonderful organisation will be able to do its good work for another year!

ALCW was one of my first digital media clients, and they have always been one of my dearest favourites.

They run the most wonderful citizen science based events. Science Week is always such a treat. As well as other opportunities throughout the year to engage with the natural world on the Far South Coast as citizen scientists.

So looking forward to seeing what they do in 2024!

You know those moments where the world seems to crack open and you never see things the same way again?

Mine happened lately when I read an excellent book about how to actually make a blog successful and it changed my understanding of the purpose of affiliate marketing. This brought my attention to the fact that some of what is written on the internet is no more than thinly cloaked reviews of products that offer affiliate programs. No one is talking about this! I call bulls**t!

What have your biggest Aha moments been?

(PS. I think affiliate marketing can be positive if done well, but please don't tell me that Shopify rates 4.7/5 and Wordpress rates 3.2/5 and all the reasons why Shopify is farrrr superior. These are blatant lies! The only thing is that Shopify has an affiliate program and Wordpress doesn't! And I will never read product reviews the same way again!

When I get to this stage in the year I always think two main thoughts. One - where the heck did the time go and two - it's time for a reflection on all that's passed and celebrate everything I've achieved.

I never beat myself up over things that went wrong because everything has a little nugget 'o wisdom in there.
Here's my number one learning - don't get distracted by the next shiny thing - just stay on the path and my top moment to celebrate - when someone from Ukraine emailed me and asked if I would be interested in co-founding his business.
