🙏🏽We want to say a big THANK YOU to , our major beneficiary. 
🤝On 30n Dec 2025, we visited Switchboard at their office at to donate the cash earnings raised at the 21/11 gig

🌈While there Switchboard kindly took the time to show us more of their amazing peer-led mental health work that benefits our q***r community. Our funds are helping them to produce and distribute ‘Grief Boxes’, sent out to members of the community in need. (see pic!)

❤️ We look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts for Switchboard's valuable services and thank our community for attending our events. Together we will build community well-being through our events & shared lived experience to make positive change. 

Welcome Stranger Events is proud to say we raised over $1000 for Switchboard and $200 for Pay The Rent across our 2 gigs in 2025. This is just the start!  We are a proud, q***r grassroots group & look forward to growing from strength to strength in 2026. Have a look at our Expression of Interest Form (link in bio) to book a gig with us or to sign up as a volunteer. We aim to have 2+ events this year, we do not have a schedule and will base our events on demand but roughly 1 around May-June and at least 1 more Sept-Nov.  It would be our pleasure to build community with you!

Where does the money go?
Switchboard Vic provides peer-driven support services for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex, q***r and asexual (LGBTIQA+) people, their families, allies and communities. They have a range of different programs offering peer-to-peer support in areas including gender and sexuality, diverse relationships, su***de prevention, family violence support, anti-racism advocacy, and social inclusion for older LGBTI community.

Proceeds go to ...

80% to Switchboard Vic, a community based NFP org providing peer support for the LGBTIQA+ communities and their allies, friends, support workers and families, 

15% to Pay the Rent &/or Treaty Together, acknowledging we live and play on stolen indigenous land, & 

5% to the Welcome Stranger admin & maintenance fund, to help pay for occasional consumables. 

At our last gig in August, we raised $600 for Switchboard, $100 for Pay the Rent & $10 for the admin fund.

OMG! Our feet are barely touching the ground after our emotional soft-launch at Mamma Chen's on Saturday! It will take us a few days to reconcile our final funds raised for our beneficiaries Switchboard Victoria and .... we reckon it will be around the $500- 600 mark. A good start! We really appreciate all the Welcome Stranger volunteers and Mamma Chen staff for making this a spectacular, safe and joyful event.

We were so immersed in making sure the event went smoothly, we didn't take many photographs. We look forward to sharing pix and vids with you as they come through. If you took any footage, please share and tag .
