hin the Real Estate industry since I was a young boy. My Father started shooting Real Estate in the 1960's in Ireland, and was in fact the first person in the land not only to shoot Real Estate as a professional but also to produce colour prints. Those were the days when a small classified ad in the local paper seemed adequate to sell your property. We provided small, business card sized, prints of each shot, all individually cut up with sticky backs on them for the local agents to stick on their brochures. Along with larger prints & sometimes transparencies for window displays. I worked in the lab every school holidays and became a full time employee as soon as I finished Higher Education. This traditional education in Photography, from developing our own negatives and prints to hand enlarging and of course how to compose a great real estate shot, has stood me in great stead over the past 20 years. Since moving to Australia in 2002, I have continued my education into what really is the best form of advertising for each property. I spent 2 years working as a Real Estate Agent before securing a job with one of the largest online property portal sites in Australia. I was there for 5 years as an account manager and emerged from there knowing the online market inside out, I trained agents on everything from how to construct a good internet ad to when to upload the property for maximum exposure, when to send out an email campaign, what banners were most effective. Needless to say when I bought my Franchise with Open2View I was beyond excited to get back behind the camera and put all of these new skills into action. With regular attendance to industry specific workshops, I have kept my skills right at the cutting edge of this great industry and proudly accepted the Open2view Queensland Photographer of the Year award for 2010. I no longer consider myself just a Professional Photographer, more a complete property marketing consultant.
