Today marks the start of Refugee Week 2026, a reminder of the importance of listening to stories, valuing lived experience and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong.

This year’s theme, “A Million Stories,” highlights that behind every individual is a unique journey shaped by courage, hope and the pursuit of safety and belonging.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel safe, connected and supported within their community. Every story deserves to be heard.

At Communicare, we’re proud to support this journey through our Bridge to Belonging Program, which works alongside individuals and families as they settle into new communities.

As part of Refugee Week, we will be hosting a community event this Sunday at Harmony Fields, Maddington, providing an opportunity for connection, conversation and shared community experience in a welcoming space.

This Men’s Health Week, we’re highlighting the role wellbeing plays in helping men to build meaningful lives and maintain strong connections with family, friends, and community.

At Breathing Space, wellbeing is part of the deeper process of behaviour change. Our residential program holds men accountable for how they choose to show up in the world, meaning that they need to take action to maintain their wellbeing.

Alongside structured group work and therapeutic support, participants learn practical tools that help them stay grounded and connected. These practices don’t replace the core behaviour change work, they support it. They help men slow down, stay present, and make choices that align with safety, respect, and accountability.

We know meaningful change takes time. But small, consistent actions can strengthen mental health, build resilience, and support safer relationships.

Communicare is proud to deliver the Energy Ahead program as part of the Financial Wellbeing Collective (FWC), supporting Perth households to manage rising energy costs and improve financial wellbeing.

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on the role we all play in creating meaningful change as individuals, teams, organisations and communities.

Reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility, and it starts with the choices we make each day, not just this week, but every day of the year.

This morning’s National Reconciliation Week breakfast, hosted by Reconciliation WA and Reconciliation Australia, was an important opportunity to reflect on what it truly means to be “all in”, through truth-telling, listening and meaningful action.

The keynote address by Narelda Jacobs was powerful and moving, sharing the realities of the experiences of First Peoples and the reminder that racism still exists within our communities.

Real change begins when we listen, learn and allow ourselves to be transformed by the stories shared.

We were reminded that Reconciliation is a relationship, it’s showing up, its meaningful action. It’s not a week, it’s every day.

National Sorry Day reminds us that the impacts of forced removal, disconnection from culture and systemic injustice are not confined to history.

As a community services organisation, we see the importance of healing, connection, cultural safety and self-determination every day.

Today we honour Stolen Generations survivors and reaffirm our commitment to walking alongside First Nations peoples in truth, respect and reconciliation.

What an incredible evening with Maggie Dent 💛

One of the most special moments of the evening was launching our Good Enough Parenting Cards, with Maggie sharing this beautiful reflection:

“When I opened them and read them, they made my heart sing like you wouldn’t believe, because so many of the things in there are things I say all the time to parents to reassure them there’s no perfect, we all muck up, we are all trying to do the best we can”

To celebrate the launch, we’re offering free shipping and 25% off with the code MAGGIE25 for a limited time at www.thejourneyproject.org.au
