On Christmas Eve, Shardae was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Now her sister, Kambah resident Marnie Murrell, is going on the wagon for Dry July, giving up alcohol for a month to raise money for cancer services.
“While giving up a drink for a month feels like a small sacrifice, it’s nothing compared to what she is going through — losing her hair, lack of energy and appetite, being unable to work, endless medical appointments and impending surgery,” Ms Murrell said. “Through it all, she continues to show incredible strength.”

What if we have more in common than we're led to believe?
That's the question Australian filmmaker Kane Guglielmi set out to explore in Common Wealth, a documentary filmed over four years across eight countries.
Driven by a desire to understand why so many people seem to be struggling financially, mentally and socially, Kane travelled the world speaking with people from different backgrounds, beliefs and life experiences.
The result is a thought-provoking film about division, connection, hope and the power of conversation.
Common Wealth screens at Kambri Cinema, ANU on Friday 26 June.
