Roma!
A short, beautiful, bookend trip in May, and the first time ever with my camera.

Smells like: ancient dust and evening jasmine
Sounds like: scooters and the secrets of side streets
Tastes like: gelato shared with strangers and retrobottega rooftop
Feels like: golden light and something half-remembered

And I’ve never experienced a more beautiful spring.

Forest floors of vitsippan (wood anemones), canola fields rolling down to the sea, rhubarb cake, windows open, washing on the line, fågelsångsnatten (the night of birdsong), foraging and cooking ramslök (wild garlic), evening bike rides to the lake, Valborgs day bonfire, orchards full of apple blossoms, cows and horses and sheep are out, local white and green asparagus, apple blossoms, chestnut blossoms, walls of lilac and clematis, and nightingales at midnight.

I’m living in fairytale land.

In the German countryside with Laura.

Butterfly ranunculus, a new moon in Aries, that denim jacket, wild chives, sweet Carry, night bike rides, shooting stars, the first lilac, pancake chats, Pretty Girl, the dream scarf on spring loan. Fügung - now forever in my word treasure.

Always meet your heroes. Especially when they are as warm and welcoming as Marieke and Laura and Nora of . From a very lovely Saturday in Berlin where I serendipitously found myself watching these three make pretty and delicious in Laura’s apartment, ready to host . I was immediately transported to a past Instagram life - a slower time of gatherings and table settings and excitedly photographing quiet bts moments. Beautiful, connected, inspiring and oh so nice.

One of the best parts of living in Europe is being able to jump on a train to meet up with one of my bestest friends halfway between her place (Switzerland) and mine (Sweden) for a semi spontaneous, somewhat random, weekend in Hamburg.

About a month and a bit too late, but thank you for including these two pics in your Feb issue.

It’s taken me a minute to digest The Tasmania Photography Workshop - workshop number two from this trip. The magnitude of magic felt and the converting that magic into a post to share here, feels a bit overwhelming tbh. It does every workshop.
Let me push through that and share this collection of photos and moments with you.
was our inspiring and photogenic base camp in Tasmania for the two days. It hosted fifteen photography loving humans from far and wide who were able to let loose and indulge in two days of intensive learning and sharing in and obsessing over the art of photography. These photos make it look like we just ate and drank the entire two days. We kind of did. We were non stop spoiled by and her next level cooking, styling and all rounded hospitality. We enjoyed a two day menu full of the finest summer produce, all thoughtfully sourced directly from local Huon Valley farms, with Soa and Leo helping in the kitchen / behind the scenes. Our very special guest speaker was the delightful who had us mesmerised by taking us on a time-warp of heyday glossy publications, then through to the relevance and bts of editorial photography today. We also had a last minute visit from at the end of our first day to pour our well earned apero. AND THEN! We had a surprise dinner on our final evening, which Michelle and I had so much fun dreaming up. We invited the insanely talented chef to cook dinner and Sue and Roger of fame to bring us the finest French natural wines. The surprise unfolded alfresco on the river jetty, with some seriously delicious canapés and a very impressive French sparkling, followed by a sit down dinner of a menu fit for royalty, served up by and Elsa in the summery Bowmont garden - with all our new friends.

I’m SO thankful for every part that made this workshop what is was. Especially for the connections made and creativity unleashed among our gorgeous group. My goodness, that part felt good.

Let’s do it again soon. I’ll be shouting from the rooftops of my mailing list as soon as the next workshop plan is sorted.

Love Lean.

Two photography workshops in two weeks! And as to be expected, I’m high as a kite from the magic of it all.
Here is a gallery memento to share from workshop number one (in calendar order, I could never choose an actual number one!)
There were so many highlights - our workshop group were talented, kind, curious and so eager to learn. was our playground for two days of photography deep dive heaven. We were all spoiled by the hotel’s very deserving Michelin Key hospitality and the most beautiful interiors and location to photograph. joined us on the afternoon of the first day and shared many a wild photographic career story with us, all the while talking us through and showing us his signature portraiture style and taking all our portraits. Lucky us. Our two days were jam packed with many delicious, beautiful and inspiring things - black cockatoos! Apero sunsets! Unleashed creativity, lunches and morning tea’s fit for kings and queens, excellent group questions and chats, the unlocking of camera superpowers, new friends, the list goes on. Unfortunately the workshop didn’t. As always, it went far too quickly and now, the workshop withdrawals are real. Gallery momento from workshop number two up next.
