Brilliant rabbit control video by Rob from RJM Hunting. As someone who has much more recently entered the sphere of (part-time) professional vertebrate pest control, it’s really valuable to watch and learn from more experienced professionals.
Rod’s generosity in recording and sharing these sessions enables less experienced pest controllers, including volunteers and farmers and land managers, to watch him work and see how he combines excellence in equipment and technique. Inspiring stuff!
Back for Round 2 on the rabbits in the Southern Highlands.

After removing over 190 rabbits in 6 hours on the first visit, I headed back to these two small neighbouring properties for a follow-up job.
Conditions were a lot tougher this time with a bright full moon and very still night making the rabbits extremely flighty. Even so, we still managed to remove another 85 rabbits.
Follow-up visits are a huge part of getting on top of rabbit infestations. One big night can make a difference, but keeping the pressure on is what gives landholders the best chance of long-term control.
Big thanks to Blago for coming along and collecting the rabbits so they could be used for meat and pet food.

Local volunteer Members of the Wildcare mange treatment team and Wombat Rescue recently joined forces to install an incredible 60 burrow flaps where two wombats with severe mange have been seen.
Mange is a serious but treatable condition, caused by the sarcoptic mange mite which is highly contagious and buries under the skin causing great discomfort and eventual death within about 12 months if not treated. It causes inflammation, intense itching, leading to the wombat scratching, resulting in open wounds, infection, dehydration, fly strike in summer and pneumonia in winter.
If you see a wombat out in the day, with thick scabs on the sides of the body or around the eyes, please contact our 24/7 Wildcare Helpline on 6299 1966.
Channel Seven and the ISC/CISS/Landcare and their anti-hunting cheerleaders aren't doing themselves proud by spreading misinformation and disinformation about wild deer and the availability of hunting and ground shooting/culling to assist in wild deer control programs. The laughably self-described deer "experts" in the ISC/CISS can't even tell you what the wild deer species in Tasmania is, let alone point out a picture of one, and the inflated figures they use to drum up unnecessary anti-deer hysteria demonstrate they don't understand the animals they are talkiing about or the methods which can be used to sustainably and affordably manage their wild populations in Tasmania. Please do better, 7News Tasmania.

Wild rabbits seem to be getting really popular in high-end restaurants!
Rabbits are everywhere in the wild, so why is rabbit meat so expensive? Once a cheap meat for families doing it tough, the price and availability of rabbit means it has gone from family dinner to fine dining.

lols, I’ve seen lots of occasions where the ISC/CISS use the wrong species of deer (often a foreign species that doesn’t even exist in the wild in Australia) when arguing their pro-poison agenda, but this image takes the cake!

If you've never seen a quoll in the wild before, it's a worthwhile experience spotting and watching these amazing critters. There's a couple of places in Canberra, including Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, where you are almost guaranteed to see them.
Love spotting wildlife? 🙋 Boost your skills with our pro tips! 👇
Wildlife-watching is a magical pastime, but disturbing animals can also endanger them or their young. 😱 These six tips let you experience our fabulous fauna without also disturbing them:
1.️ 🌬️ Approach wildlife from downwind so they can’t as easily smell you.
2.️ 🤎 Wear dull-coloured clothing that blends into the bush and use vegetation as cover.
3.️ 🚗 Some animals may be less spooked by a vehicle than a human. You may be able to pull over and observe from your car.
4.️ 🚶 Walk quietly, keep sudden movements to a minimum and stop your approach if the animal shows signs of being disturbed. (It seems obvious, but it’s easy to forget in the moment!)
5.️ 📸 Never use a white camera flash on a nocturnal animal as it can temporarily blind or disorientate them.
6.️ 📹 And, of course, binoculars or a long camera lens is the wildlife-watcher’s best friend. Always keep 10-15 metres from wildlife, depending on the type of animal, and use your lens to make up the distance.
It is an offense to feed, touch, capture or harm any wild native mammal, bird, reptile or amphibian; so please do the right thing by our wildlife and enjoy them from a responsible distance. 📏
Keep our wildlife wild and spread your viewing love – it’s not good for wild animals to become too used to humans as it can have negative consequences.
