We're thrilled to welcome Toby Bellwood to the Aristotle Metadata team as our new Chief Technology Officer.

Toby brings over six years of experience leading engineering teams at amazee.io, where he built and scaled a globally distributed web hosting platform across multiple time zones. Throughout his career, his focus has been on access: making platforms reliable enough that the content and data on them can actually reach the people who need it.

Aristotle works on the other side of that problem. Making sure data is described, governed, and discoverable in the first place.

Toby has worked hands-on in the Australian Government's data ecosystem for years, across agencies publishing open and spatial data, platforms consuming it, and the infrastructure underpinning data.gov.au, NationalMap, and GovCMS. He knows what good metadata looks like, and he knows the friction when it isn't there.

We couldn't be more excited to have someone with that depth of experience stepping into the CTO role. Welcome to the team, Toby!

What an incredible time at DGIQ West + Enterprise Data World 2026 in San Diego!

As a Platinum Sponsor, it was a privilege to be part of one of the most important gatherings in the data governance calendar, connecting with practitioners, leaders and thinkers who are doing the hard work of building better data programs every day.

Our CEO Samuel Spencer was kept busy across the week, including one session that took the conversation all the way to the beach. Not a bad backdrop for talking metadata and AI governance.

The energy at DGIQ + EDW this year was something else. The conversations around metadata, data quality and AI governance are no longer happening in silos, and the community is clearly hungry for practical, sustainable approaches that actually work.

What a week in Wellington!

We had a fantastic time at the 8th NZ Gov Data Summit as a Gold Sponsor, and it was great to see so many data leaders from across New Zealand government coming together to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead.

A highlight for us was Phil Anderson and Lynton Norris facilitating a master class, working through practical frameworks to help public sector agencies design data governance programs that are ready for the next generation of AI-driven public services.

The conversations in the room were honest, energising, and action-oriented. It is clear the NZ public sector data community is serious about turning standards into practice.
