Peer work = where real connection meets real care π
We recently joined peer and community workers, educators and advocates from across Australia at the Peer and Community Workers Summit in Meanjin (Brisbane), and it's safe to say the energy in the room was next level. These spaces matter because peer work isn't an "add-on" in our model of care... it is the model. It's what helps people feel safe, supported and actually stay connected to care.
We were proud to have our Project Officer, Smruti, present the LiverWise Project, supporting multicultural communities to access liver health and hepatitis B information in their own language - breaking down barriers and meeting people where they're at. A big shoutout to our amazing bilingual educators Trang and Evelyn, who are a huge part of making LiverWise possible. π
Our peer worker Bryce also took to the stage, presenting on strengthening hepatitis C care through multidisciplinary approaches and peer leadership, showcasing the important role lived experience plays in improving health outcomes and supporting people through care.
And a massive shout out to our incredible peer workers Bryce & Crystal, who continue to make a difference every day.
Grateful to Hepatitis Australia for bringing everyone together for more connection, lived experience and peer-led care. π

40,000+ healthcare conversations. Two mobile vans. ππ
This week we joined Directions Health Services to celebrate 10 years of Chat to PAT - a mobile health service that's delivered more than 40,000 consultations to people across the ACT who may otherwise struggle to access healthcare.
Outreach changes lives, and we're proud to stand alongside organisations making healthcare more accessible for our community.
Congratulations on an incredible milestone! π

Affected by fatty liver disease? We want to hear from you!
If you have been diagnosed with Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD - the most common type of fatty liver disease), or care for someone who has, weβd like to understand your experience.
MASLD can progress to more serious liver disease and can be an early warning sign of serious conditions including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.
Today is Global Fatty Liver Day (11 June), and we are launching a new survey to better understand:
β’ How the disease was first detected
β’ The information and support received
β’ What you think policy makers need to know
Your insights will directly shape LiverWELL's work for Australians living with MASLD.
Take the survey: https://liverwell.org.au/get-involved/masld-survey/
About the name: MASLD is also known as MAFLD (Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease) and was previously called NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease). We use the term MASLD to refer to this disease.

30 years of advocacy. 30 years of community. 30 years of making a difference.
We're incredibly grateful to Canberra Daily for helping share the story behind Hepatitis ACT's 30-year journey and shining a light on the realities of viral hepatitis in our community.
The article explores who viral hepatitis affects, why stigma remains a barrier to care, and the work still needed to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
Most importantly, it reminds us that viral hepatitis can affect anyone and that awareness, testing, treatment, and community support all play a role in getting people the care they need.
Hepatitis ACT turns 30 | Canberra Daily 31 per cent of people with hepatitis are undiagnosed. Hepatitis ACT, which turns 30 this year, urges the public to get tested.
