The Under 14 Div 2 Creek Rats went down to Stallions today 21-32, only their second loss of the season. While Coach Matt was pleased to see the effort across the court he couldn’t go past the 11-point contribution of Xavier Bonny for the Domino’s Pizza Award. Well done Xavier and thanks Domino’s!!! Overcoming a slow start, our Prem 2 women got rolling last night to chalk up an important win over ANU 54-46. Ellie Barnes again racked them up, finishing with 18 points, Indi Clowry had 13 and the wily veteran Ellie Robinson 9.

Different story for our men - after keeping pace early they were torched by Flames, falling 53-95. Josh Rooks again led the scoresheet with 15, while Jordan Doherty had 9. A third consecutive loss really drops the guys back in the standings, Coach Ferrington no doubt looking for a bounce-back next week in an important match against Stallions.

A successful evening for our Prem 1 teams last night, departing Belconnen with wins.

Against a rebuilding Stallions our women were dominant, (over?)sharing the ball on their way to a 94-37 victory. Six players scored in double figures, Rats able to get easy transition buckets with Ella Collins (10 points) so often leading the charge, while when required, showing ability to move the ball nicely in the half-court to create for each other. Stallions had no answer for Awour Deng (sponsored by Ginninderry Homestead - Canberra Wedding Venue) who was dominant inside with 19 points, capping off her game with a big three. Molly Lacey had 16, Madi Scholfield 15 (and one Block!) and Ali Francis 14.

In the late game on court 3, our men continued their solid recent run, disposing of Dodgers 100-76. Rats flew out of the blocks with a 22-9 first term, Ben Godwin (11 points) and Will Goodwin (5 points) testing the Dodgers interior defence. The quality of Rats play stepped up in the second term, Isaac Maher (19 points) leading at both ends. Getting the ball inside/outside opened up options as Bior Duoot (15 points) and Ryan Gooch (16 points) began cashing in.

Coach Nic will gladly bank the win and consolidation in the top four, but likely be looking for relentless consistency across four quarters after allowing Dodgers to win the second half.

Prem 2 in action tonight - our men up against Flames and our women against Wests. Both games at Belconnen. Both at 7.40pm. Go Rats!
