📣National Senior Teams - Day 2 Results📣

Another massive day for the ACT team with matches against QLD and WA. While QLD proved too strong in the morning, the match ups against WA went toe to toe coming down to games/points!

In the end, ACT managed to come out 4th in this years Australian National Senior Teams event! A massive congratulations to the team, you did an amazing job, played great squash and did the ACT proud!

📣National Senior Teams - Day 1 Results📣

It was a big day of competition at the National Senior Teams event on the Gold Coast. ACT fought hard but were unfortunately unable to bring it across the line.

Matches of the day go to some big 5 setters! James Lloyd defeating VIC's Ben Ratcliffe in a monster battle that flip flopped and could have been anyone's match, followed by Lauren Illigs 5 setter, where she was up 2 games and pushed hard eventually going down in the 5th to TAS's Grace Pattison

SA defeated ACT (2-6-101 to 2-6-82 )
VIC defeated ACT (3-11-138 to 1-3-79)
TAS defeated ACT (3-9-149 to 1-7-127)

With three returning players and one of our superstars returning to represent the Nations Capital, it is bound to be a good two days (especially away from the cold of Canberra!). The event will be held at the Carrara Squash Centre on the Gold Coast from Monday 22 June to Tuesday 23 June.

This year we say goodbye to three incredible juniors who have now played their final Green Shield: Josh Markham, June Steele, and Seth Jayawardene.

Josh and June have been the heart of ACT’s Green Shield program for the past eight years, representing the territory with pride, resilience, and leadership season after season. This year, as our team captains, they led the A C T Rex’s to a historic overall victory, the perfect way to finish their Green Shield careers.

Their commitment, sportsmanship, and the example they’ve set for younger players will leave a lasting legacy in our program.

We also congratulate Seth Jayawardene, who has proudly represented ACT for the past two years. His energy, improvement, and team spirit have been a fantastic addition to the team.

Thank you Josh, June, and Seth for everything you’ve brought to ACT squash. You’ve worn the colours with pride.

One of the biggest hits of Green Shield this year wasn’t just our results, it was Rexy, our very own ACT T Rex mascot who brought the hype, the laughs, and the team spirit all weekend.

A massive thank you to Corey Markham, who brought Rexy to life. His energy, commitment, and willingness to coach in a full dinosaur suit made the experience unforgettable for our juniors.

The kids embraced the A C T Rex’s identity with everything they had, from warm ups to team meetings and inspiring the team chant. Rexy was right there in the middle of it, tiny arms and all.

What an incredible weekend for our ACT Junior Team at Green Shield Squash 2026. Our juniors played with heart, resilience, and true team spirit and they have brought home an amazing overall victory, our first since 2018.

Not only did ACT win the Overall Green Shield, but our players dominated across the age groups, earning eight shields in total:
