ACT Small Training Provider of the Year 2026. MBA Training | RTO 88163 In the ACT Master Builders was formed in 1925.

Founded in 1925, Master Builders ACT has played a key role in the local building and construction industry representing builders, suppliers, subcontractors and professionals. The Master Builders Association is Australia’s major building and construction industry association—and Australia's oldest industry association. Founded in the early 1870s in Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle, the movement quickly grew in each state and territory before being federated nationally in 1890. Since that time, the Master Builders has grown to over 30,000 members, with offices in all major cities of Australia. It employs over 400 experienced staff with qualifications in a diverse range of disciplines including building, engineering, law, management, economics, marketing, accounting, industrial relations, safety, building surveying and training. The Master Builders Association of the ACT is part of the national Master Builders Federation. Each Master Builders operates independently to ensure that they service the needs of their local members. Master Builders ACT has members from five sectors, these are:

Residential Builders
Commercial Builders
Civil Contractors
Sub-Contractors/Trade-Contractors & Suppliers
Professional consultants
In addition to these the Master Builders has an associate membership for retirees and students that enjoy basic services provided by the association.

In this block, our apprentices are studying the interior of houses, focusing on framing and fitting wet areas and installing doors.

Throughout the week, apprentices learn:
🏠 Frame and fit wet areas – Prepare frames in wet areas, including bathrooms, sanitary compartments, and laundries.
🏠 Install doors—They are required to install cavity sliding doors, external door jambs, internal doors, French doors (double doors), and door handles.

Get in touch with our training team to discuss sending your apprentices to MBA.

Winner: Simplicity Kitchens

2026 Master Builders and Asset Construction Hire Excellence Awards - Best Use of Material in a Residential Project

This year’s Best Use of Material in a Residential Project, awarded to Simplicity Kitchens for their outstanding joinery work for a home in Turner, celebrates a project where precision joinery is not just decorative, but forms the structural and sensory backbone of the home.

The design elevates humble timber veneer into an organising system, shaping circulation, anchoring spaces, and concealing complexity.

Full-height storage walls dissolve visual clutter, while integrated kitchen cabinetry combines ventilation and lighting behind seamless grain. Shadowline reveals, integrated pulls, and millimetre-accurate transitions reflect rigorous discipline in the application of the material.

Congratulations, Simplicity Kitchens

Is your team classified correctly under the right Award?

A recent Fair Work Commission ruling is a good reminder: it's not just about the tasks someone does day to day; it's about the real purpose of their role.

Get the position description wrong, and it can turn into a costly dispute. We've broken down what the case means for ACT builders.

There's a difference between standing in a hi-vis vest holding a sign, and actually running the traffic management plan for a site.

This course is for people who already have traffic controller experience and want to make that jump, into planning, monitoring, and closing down a TGS/TMP, not just following one someone else wrote.

📋 Course: Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plans (RIIRIS301E, RIICOM201E, RIIWHS302E, RIIWHS303, RIIWHS201E)
📅 Next course: 15 - 16 October 2026

As of the 1st of October, if you're developing 3 or more dwellings in the ACT, a Property Developer Licence is no longer optional. It's the law.

The Property Developers Act 2024 now requires a licence if you're:
🔹 Applying for development or building approval
🔹 Applying for a certificate of occupancy
🔹 Selling or advertising residential property off the plan

Some roles are excluded (subcontractors, professional advisors, owner-builders on their own home), but if you're the developer of record, this applies to you.

Not sure where you stand? Our Workplace Relations team can help you work through it.
