I was given a fantastic opportunity to help get this application in….

It’ll be the first in Qld and it’s right here in Moreton Bay… in fact right here in Caboolture!!

A dedicated Bus Education Facility for School Children!!

We did it free of charge - I’m hoping Moreton Bay City Council come on board so my boys will be able to go through the programme.

Caboolture Bus Lines Launches Application with Moreton Bay City Council for Queensland's Only Bus Safety Education Facility for School Children

Caboolture Bus Lines is proud to announce the launch of their town planning application for Queensland’s first and only dedicated Bus Safety Education Facility, specially designed for school children.

This pioneering initiative underscores Caboolture Bus Lines' commitment to enhancing the safety and wellbeing of young commuters, ensuring they are well-equipped to travel safely and confidently.

Believed to be the only one of its kind in Australia this facility would provide an engaging, interactive environment where children can learn essential bus safety skills.

The proposal features real-life simulations, with a street frontage bus stop where the bus will drop off and pick up, hands-on activities, and educational sessions in a permanently located bus “classroom”.

Caboolture Bus Lines would deliver the program to schools in the Moreton Bay Region, free of charge, as part of this community initiative. The program will be tailored to various age groups, fostering lifelong habits that promote safe bus travel.

“As a leading provider of public transport services and one of the largest school bus operators in the region, we recognise the importance of educating our youngest passengers on how to navigate bus travel safely,” said Grant & Janette Craike, owners of Caboolture Bus Lines. "Our new facility represents a proactive initiative, focused on fostering safer communities by equipping children with essential life skills and the knowledge needed to use public transport safely and responsibly. Through this initiative, we aim to provide parents with peace of mind, knowing their children are well-prepared to make safe travel decisions."

The application that was submitted over the Christmas break has been supported by ARC Planning who have committed to this project free-of-charge. “I can only hope that Council step on board this amazing initiative” Mr Raedel said. “It is unique and as such we are asking Council to allow a street located bus stop that will be used for three drop offs and three pickups, for a maximum period of less than ten minutes each time and only on school days”

“As the father of two 5 year old sons, as soon as I saw the proposal I knew I had to do everything I could to support it” Mr Raedel said “I am so proud that of all the communities in Australia we will be the first to have this facility – I know it will save young children’s lives”.

The facility aims to reach thousands of children annually, empowering them with the knowledge and confidence to be safe and responsible passengers.

“By investing in the education of our future generations, we’re not just teaching bus safety—we’re fostering a culture of care, respect, and responsibility,” Mrs Craike.

Council tries to gag ABC over leaked documents showing unlawful dog regulation 13/09/2024

Just keeping your eyes open to the Moreton Bay City Council …..

What else are they continuing to hide?

Council tries to gag ABC over leaked documents showing unlawful dog regulation One of Queensland's largest councils has told the ABC to destroy a leaked spreadsheet and legal letters showing 281 cases of illegal dog regulation.

Well… what a big day.

Back during the election Kerri and I took the high ground when the Councillor of Division 12 decided to blatantly lie and tell everyone we were “running a paid smear campaign” - but at the same time not answer the allegations that were published (not by us).

We didn’t react, didn’t bleat about the oppositions supporters/trolls smashing us up… the atrocious trolling - we took it all on the chin because we knew the truth would come out - and once again were silent until such time.

So let’s clear up one of the lies:-

That “we did a paid smear campaign.”

We never published those allegations
- nor did we pay to publish those allegations.
So let’s just set the record straight on that.

————————//———————

Now let’s clear up the ONE thing that never got answered during the election campaign of 2024.

Did the Councillor do what was alleged?

The answer is YES - he has just been found guilty of misconduct… pretty straight forward that one.

He was found GUILTY of having a conflict of interest and not declaring his websites he owned, while discussing, influencing and finally voting on the name change to Moreton Bay City Council.

The websites that he purchased just days after the “confidential workshop” held at council in 2021 and failed to declare he bought were:
Moretonbaycity.com
Moretonbaycity.com.au

You and I will never know the real reason why.

Kerri and I can now, for the second time in our lives, move forward knowing we were innocent, but not after being through the public mud throwing.

Thank you for your messages of support.

Adrian

Well what can I say! Well done to Kerri and the whole team!!! Bright Bags is 2 years old and have helped so many of our local kids!

It takes a village to raise a child!

It takes a region to raise a region of children in need!

This years Christmas is 1443 bags for children in crisis care and in need!

The bags are worth $50 each meaning we need to raise $75,000 (or equivalent in bag sponsorship!)

We can do it! And we can do it well!

Why is this so important? Some of these children get placed into foster care and literally have nothing but the nightie or pjs they are dressed in. They get an essential bag that contains un**es, 3 sets of clothes, socks, a cuddly toy to hold when they just need to give something a hug, a toy and essential items like toothbrush, washers, toothpaste, soaps etc….. some of the circumstances are so sad that come Christmas time we try a little bit harder and give that little bit extra to brighten a pretty tough year for these kids!

If you can help or if your business can help please let us know… it’s an ambitious target but we need to support these local Moreton Bay kids!

So making us a city will put us on the map huh? How’s that working for us???

Looks like that marketing not working..

We didn’t even rate a mention in the current Couriermail survey.

Moreton Bay City Council had a policy which relaxed the requirement for the smaller “Mum and Dad” 1 into 2 and 1 into 3 subdivisions where they could be conditioned to comply with the standard drawings 049 and 050 for driveways to not have to apply for an operational works or get engineer certification…. It was a good policy especially when engineers were hard to get and Council couldn’t kept up with the applications (pretty sure this is still currently the case and now about to get worse)

As of a little while ago (apparently) this no longer applies… (and they didn’t tell anyone - just made the decision and started putting it in the conditions)

It now costs an extra $10,000 and will take an extra 2 months for a Mum and Dad to subdivide their block (an increase in costs of nearly 10 percent).

Moreton Bay City Council is this really the smartest thing to do in a housing crisis and cost of living crisis? Surely at this point every block helps especially when there is little to no additional council infrastructure required to actually facilitate these particular subdivisions. Yes, you are going to get a few dodgy ones happening - that’s why you do inspections at plan sealing time to make sure it’s done right otherwise you should make the plan sealing fee $50 because you actually aren’t doing anything except rubber stamping it… (just saying).

I understand it’s not a money grab but it does kind of look like it… (with having to pay Council to submit an operational works application).

By the way did I mention we are in a housing crisis? And a cost of living crisis? Perhaps not the greatest of timing.

Check out the conditions before:- 366 Pumicestone Road, Caboolture (19 th February 2024) and this is the more complicated one to deliver than the example below.

Check out the conditions after:- 112 Logrunner Drive, Upper Caboolture (just the other day) very much a simplistic non complicated driveway crossover and driveway.
