2022 will see Camerata reimagine some of classical music’s greatest works while celebrating contemporary Australian pieces and artists – all with our trademark adventurous programming and energy.

Camerata will at last welcome guest artist – after years in the making – leading singer/songwriter Lior, as well as the critically acclaimed soprano Sofia Troncoso, and our signature Wild Card Mystery Guest Segment.

What’s more, we are delighted to announce the addition of a fourth mainstage concert series with the full ensemble for the very first time in both Brisbane and Toowoomba, as well as taking one of our mainstage concerts to HOTA, Home of the Arts. This August, the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble launches its 20th Birthday celebrations with a Spring season of Romeo & Juliet.

In a city torn apart by warring families, two young people push back against the expectations surrounding them. Juliet refuses to allow her life and sexuality to be traded for security, while Romeo distances himself from the boys club mentality in which he was raised. In their greatest act of defiance, the two teenagers find unexpected love. But, is youthful love enough to mend ancient rifts?

Marking the ensemble’s return to the beautiful Roma Street Parkland, Romeo & Juliet promises to deliver the clarity, joy, and live music that QSE has become known for over the last 20 years.
