Before 1975, a woman ordering a drink at a public bar was a radical act. Next Thursday, we’re at Amelia Shaw Bar all day. Come sit with us for five minutes and tell us what feminism means to you.

The term ‘feminism’ can sometimes feel like it belongs to someone else – like there’s a right answer before you’re allowed in. That’s why we need more people in the room. We’re aiming to collect 100+ opinions and stories, so come make history!

A container for stories, holding the site’s history alongside a contemporary program.

On-site workshops clarified what the Museum could be for community, schools, and new visitors. From this we shaped a clear narrative, leading with story and substance over programming alone.

The portal.

The La Perouse brand (or LaPA as it’s referred to by the local community) is built around the portal: an oval motif drawn from the Cable Station’s circular windows.

It functions as symbol, structural device, and dynamic graphic element, holding photographs, collection objects, and community imagery within the wordmark itself.

Honouring complex layers of place and heritage: First Nations history, French exploration, colonial encounter, ecological significance, and a proud tradition of Aboriginal-led cultural enterprise.

Less than 1% of recorded history is about women. We produced a living timeline with MECCA’s M-POWER to start changing that.

Beginning in the 1900s and expanding each year with a new chapter, the archive brings together diverse perspectives from brands, authors and creatives around the world.
