We had to make the same type of rear wing dividers as the front wing has.
So we did

Ok... so this weekend is going to rain (apparently) so i will be able to keep ripping into cyl head jobs both sat & Sunday.
Just a note for you all that the landlord/council/water-mains people will be digging up the driveway out front here this saturday to fit a new water-mains pipe & fire hydrant outlet... so i will still be here , but Be aware you'll have to park out on the street & walk-in ok?
Cheers

Ouch!!!
Rather nasty rash you have there mate
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍
Ok so its nearly 3pm Sunday.
I really should have gone back up to the Noosa Hillclimb & had a few runs today.
Looks like the weather was good to them.
Well done to the Noosa Beach classic car club & all their helpers & volunteers marshalls & organisers... i wish I could have been there but just couldnt do it this weekend... & I really needed to get these cyl Heads done.
Anyways... this 3rd head wasn't as far "ahead" as I thought it was 😍
so I had to rip-in good & proper with this one.
Time was running away from me today.
So I've gone & got Marly a little present because she's absolutely wonderfull xoxoxoxo & i came back to work & finished this little fella off.
Chamber-fill
Chamber-fill
Chamber-fill
Have I mentioned how important chamber-fill is yet???
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰
So its not all about the flow-figures ok... but yes we need flow... an engine won't rev if there's no flow... but any old massive big-hole head will flow... (some better than others) but what's the good of having a high reving engine with a short power-spread???
We want a high "Torque-Curve" & it would be good to have good flow numbers married to it too yes... but chamber-fill & comp-ratio & a well matched camshaft to your intended use/application is what its all about.
Like you can't have a full race cam in a road motor right?
First-up as full race cam-shaft needs full-race type high comp to get that cam to work properly.
A full race cam with 10:1 comp ratio just doesnt work... you've lost a whole pile of "dynamic-comp" by fitting that big stoopid cam so its never going to work well.
Same goes with a huge big hole head that has lost all its angles, runner-lengths , & short radius,,, without all that lovely goodness you end up with a pig of a thing with hardly any torque down-low & only a very short power-spread right up high.
So,,, don't simply rely on hi flow figures... you really want a big fresh lovely full chamber of fresh cold new stuff.
& to get that you need good angles, long runners & a lovely short-radius into the chamber.
Anyways... I know I keep banging on about it but it really is just simple physics.
We have some huge heads that we have done but they pull from way down low as well has flow really really well,,, they give a lovely broard power-spread & yet still rev to 8000rpms plus , (with the right combo of cam & comp-ratio, inlet & exhaust system married together.)
Most of the heads we do these days are simply hot-road heads , so im focusing on all those important parts rather than high-flow figures.
If i just simply carved big cylindrical holes & carved away all that short-radius side to give me huge flow numbers , then it won't have much bang(torque) & would only make power right up high & the power-spread would be very short.
& then you would also "need" a close ratio gearbox etc... & that's simply not what we want for a hot road motor.
We want a nice drive-able , smooth, efficient, yet torquey & broad power spread with good chamber fill.
Yes,,, & if they flow well enough for the camshaft choice (your intended use/application) then beaudy, spot-on.
Anyways... im worn-out. Goin home for a shower... back to the grind again tomorow.
Way way way more cyl Heads to grind.
No rest for the wicked ey?
Cheers

Oky doky
Thomas's cyl head is ready for some new guides to be pressed-in & some 3x angle seats cut, & then a little skim.
This one's for a nice hot road 1130cc Cooper motor.
He bought us a genuine brand new old stock 997 Cooper crank & so we got a nice lightened flywheel for him but we need to have the taper machined to suit the crank.
997 Cooper cranks have their own particular crank taper (not the same as normal later cranks & also different to the small-stub early cranks too).
So our Machine shop can sort that for us next week.
& now i can get into finishing-off Les's cyl head.
Still pleny more to do yet but finishing off these 3x cyl-heads gives the boys work to carry-on with & get all 3x power-units complete & running on the bench (Drum)
Ohhh thats dangerous!!!
Hee hee.
Some of you internet people crack us up, funny-az.
Thanks for all your comments BTW... we love em all.
& no, we are not making money from these videos so sorry if that bursts your bubble, I have no idea how to organise that stuff, its not really our plan.
But we have hundreds of thousands of views of all the stuff we do here & we thank every single one of you... hope you like what we do & if you dont then just scroll-on past yeah?
We've only ever had to block one fella who was simply abusing & swearing & calling horrible names... clearly he is sh*tty with his own life... grow-up ey?
We love taking the p**s out of ourselves,,, we like having fun, we love sharing what we do because we are bloody awesome at all this stuff
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍
Anyways,,, i would rather be at the Noosa Hillclimb as it seems not many people have cracked under a minute up there so far & i reckon we would have been up at the top 3x outright easy this weekend... our little race-buggy is bloody quick in the wet & our new race-buggy will be even quicker.
Anyways,,, we may only have 2x meetings left to run this year as im going into hospital for hip replacement surgery in August so if they let us into Leyburn sprints then that will be our last run for the year,,, then crack into racing the new buggy starting next year. (Crossing fingers)
Cheers
Stay tuned
Im onto the next head now

Ok, so this is Billy's 1430cc stroker head now sorted the chambers on it.
Sorry I did say in the video that we will press-out those old guides-> but we have already done that & punched in new guides so this is now ready for some proper 3x angle seats & a surface skim.
Yee haa
Winning today
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍
Im already onto Thomas's little Cooper head now
Cheers

Well, fairly early this morning I pigged-down some bacon n eggs & got into a cyl head job for Billy.
I probably should have gone back up to the Noosa hillclimb & had a fang as my spine/hip-pain has eased-up somewhat from the rest & pills over the last couple of days, but we really need these heads done as im way behind & the guys at work have motors ready for these heads.
Anyways,
This one's goin on a nice hot-road 1430cc stroke motors
(Sorry I did say 1415cc in the video, oops its 1430cc)
Anyways... i ported it & opened chambers a few weeks ago & then did some dummy seat-cuts but it needed to be cut down a fair way to recover the seats,, so I've done some more chamber work (lifting the rooves more) to get rid of all the nasty sharp edges & peaks that the seat-cutters left.
So now its all good to go for a good proper 3x angle seat cut.
This will be a little beaudy with a 286 (35/75 ish) cam fitted.
We will set-up all the chambers nice & even & then trim the face back down to land on our 10:1 compression ratio for servo/pump fuel.
Nice grunty thing.
Sorry meant to post this video earlier but ripped into this head instead,,, & I've already ripped into finishing-off another one for Thomas (nice little Cooper head)
Have a look at George waiting for his share of the jam n cream donut ey?
Cheeky little bu**er he is
😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰
Cheers & next video of Thomas's head shortly

Well... seeing as im not at Noosa Hillclimb, (spine & both hips giving me grief)
So Brad came to work this morning & ripped into making more wing end plates for the new race-buggy..
We can use them for mounting the wings & also the start of our radiator scoop too.
Its coming along nicely.
Im not doing much as im all pilled-up on pain killers , so Brads doin the hard yards.
Thanks heaps Brad Sinclair , youre a fkn Legend & at least we got something done this weekend.
Very Mad-Max ish now ey?
😍😍🥰😍
I hope to be back here tomorow carving into some cyl Heads,,, I've got 2x heads to finish-off & a pile more heads to get into,,, but I'll finish 2 & get into one more tomorow.
(Crossing fingers)
Cheers
Stay tuned.

Oky doky... this is just a quick vid to show what we are doing with our race-buggys steering arms.
We have already trialed the longer steering arms on the old buggy & they work a treat, effectively giving us a few benefits with regard to our steering rack being mounted further rear-ward than normal, which is simply allowing us room for our diff/sprocket.
So this new , longer steering-arm improves our Akerman-angle, reduces bump-steer, slows-up the quick-ratio & gives us less effort needed at the steering wheel & therefore improves steering accuracy.
We are making 3x pairs atm, one set for the old buggy, one pair for the new buggy & another pair for our black turbo-injected sports sedan mini.
Once the program is finished & we have trialed them ill offer them for sale, but theyre not really for normal minis, more for the car where the rack has been mounted further rearward. As with motorbike engine cars.
Thats all.
Cheers & have a wonderfull day
