We just finished up a Tesla Wall Connector installation for a great family in Coorparoo, and thought it was worth sharing for anyone who's recently made the switch to an electric vehicle. ⚡
A lot of EV owners start out plugging into a standard power point and quickly realise it's not a practical long-term solution. It's slow, and it puts unnecessary wear on the vehicle's onboard charger over time. A dedicated wall charger is a much better setup for daily use.
When we arrived, we did a full assessment of the switchboard and garage before anything else. Once we confirmed the board had capacity for a new dedicated circuit, we provided a written upfront quote and got straight into the work. The charger was mounted on the garage wall, a new circuit was run from the board, a weatherproof isolator was fitted, and everything was tested and certified — all in one visit. 🔌
If you're in Brisbane and you've recently bought an EV, or you're planning to, it's worth having a licensed electrician assess your home before you commit to a charger brand or placement. The installation matters just as much as the hardware.

🔥 Something we find regularly on Brisbane homes — and this one in Kedron was no exception.
We were originally called out for an electrical fault. Once that was fixed, we did our free safety walkthrough as we always do. What we found was a smoke alarm situation that looked okay on the surface but wasn't even close to current Queensland standards.
The home had a few alarms, but none in the bedrooms, none in the connecting hallways, and they were the old ionisation type — not the photoelectric type required by law.
Under QLD's smoke alarm legislation, every bedroom needs an alarm, every hallway connecting bedrooms needs one, and they all need to be interconnected — so if one goes off, they all go off. That's the part most people don't realise.
We walked the owners through exactly what was needed, gave them a clear upfront quote, and came back once we had the right materials to get the whole home compliant. 🏠
It's one of those jobs that started as something completely different but ended up being genuinely important. The smoke alarm setup in a lot of older Brisbane homes hasn't been updated since the legislation changed in 2017.
If you haven't had yours checked, it's worth doing — especially before you sell, lease, or just for your own peace of mind.
