Happy New Year and a new idea for a house design that establishes a continuous garden from the street to the back boundary.

The big idea guiding this renovation project is for a Trellised Edge that is part of the garden and part of the house: it provides breezes, light, shade, garden views, integrated landscape, shelter and security. It is a foyer and a garden, with places for greetings and farewells, places for retreat, and daily connection with nature.

We love when gardens and connection to nature are part of the design brief. Looking forward to seeing the big ideas in this project come to life.

The kitchen at our Escarpment Villa project is at the heart of the home, connected to indoor and outdoor living spaces, filled with natural light and a grand landscape vista.

In progress: Misty morning site visit at our Escarpment Villa project. Basalt boulders define landscape courtyards and native garden terraces. A window seat is a place to keep warm and contemplate the view: mist, rain, rocky mountain terrain and grand vistas when the sunshine comes.

In progress: this space at our Fairfield North Aspect House for Luke and Sarah features a beautiful spotted gum stair, plenty of natural light and ventilation, step-free access to the ground floor, with an internal rockery garden and hanging plants to come! Our Fairfield North Aspect House builder John Taylor and his team have been loving the good weather with concreting recently completed for this outdoor seating plinth, stairs and pool terrace. This cast concrete seat will be a great sheltered spot to sit and supervise kids in the pool, garden and lawn, with filtered light and summer shade via the translucent patio roof. In winter, this will be a great spot to soak up some sunshine! With trades working inside and out, it’s great to see this project taking shape, and coming close to completion.

Just one of the many moments we love from our Tarragindi Queenslander renovation for Sharon and Chris: the one of a kind sliding security door. The old security door opened towards the stair, causing safety issues for visitors and the home owners. The new front door is now complemented by this gorgeous custom sliding security door. With detailing and proportions to match both the original casement windows alongside and the front door glazing and panelling, this little piece of detailed design might go unnoticed, like a lot of good architecture, but complements the beautiful original Queenslander house, while making the entry safe and functional.
