Para Ice Hockey has come to Australia! Opportunities to participate in team sports for people with disabilities are very limited.

It all started with a man on a mission to bring Para Ice Hockey Qld - the exciting, fast, team sport played on ice to Australia. A team sport is where skills like teamwork, goal-setting, pursuit of excellence and other behaviours necessary for success in the workplace are developed. Para Ice Hockey is one such sport. There is a sense of camaraderie, a sense of belonging and accomplishment that c

Thanks again to Matt for running things again on Wednesday, a slightly smaller turnout, but we were no less enthusiastic, as we began with another game of red rover to warm up and went through some more puck control drills.

After two weeks on the ice with us, we bid farewell to Tamara, who heads back to the UK, but we're hopeful she'll be able to join us again in the near future.

Next Wednesday is the last opportunity for term 3 for anyone interested to come and have a go at learning our sport, as the following Wednesday, June 24th, is a game day for our regular, experienced players

Thanks to Matt for running the show yesterday, we had a great turnout, and we ran through a warmup game of red rover, followed by a session of "keep away", which focused on puck retention and passing.

We welcomed Tamara on ice for her first time, and despite our best efforts to make it "difficult" for her, she took to it like a duck to water.

All welcome to come and have a go next week, so if you have your Wednesday morning free, come on down.

Today was game day, with the Blue team notching up a comfortable 5-1 win over the Orange team, however, the scoreline didn't tell the full story, with both teams evenly matched on paper, but the Blue team came together better as a team.

Zach scored three for the Blue team, with Matt and Greg scoring one each, while Kyle scored the sole goal for the Orange team.

Steve and Tony made some great saves for their respective teams, however, the score could have been a lot higher had both teams not missed shots on an open goal.

We were delighted to welcome a number of spectators today, especially Sophie, with her calls of "Go Grandad!!!"

We'd like to thank our gameday sponsor Fezzy’s Professional Care Pty Ltd for their continued support of PIHQ.

Hopefully today's result is an omen for tonight's opening men's State of Origin game in Sydney. Plenty of off-ice rivalry was in evidence today.
