š Decluttered and tidied up the kids rooms with them.
This was our "activity" for the day together. We've been doing it together for a few years now, so they can now take the lead. I stay with them and guide them through it so they don't miss a spot. A good effort on the kids! Spent 30 minutes in each of their rooms. Now they're having their screen time

An easy way out of taking action: Iāll do it later ā¦
But later, something else happens or gets bought into the house
So letās:
Check the mail now and deal with it (discard, store, put it in your pay bill pile)
Open the boxes and then put it away and recycle that box
Replaced items can be thrown out, passed along or sold
Have things you want to pass along, set up that time to pass it along
Things to sell? Take those pictures and set up an ad on Marketplace
Then your incoming pile wonāt merge into your outgoing pile and turn into Mt. Pile on the dining table š¤Æ

Declutter Tip #75
Weāre digitally overwhelmed too, when was the last time you decluttered your phone/computer/tablet/online subscriptions/files/photos/mail ā¦. The list seems endless.
Here are some things for you to think about decluttering:
Gather all devices, digital accessories and cull (all those random chargers that donāt charge anything)
Organise digital files
Delete unwanted photos/files/apps
Unsubscribe to mail
Unfollow pages and people on social media
Turning off notifications
**Make sure when getting rid of devices that you do properly get rid of data

Declutter Tip #74
Canāt decide where to put things?
Touch and go items should be in reach - these are things you need to use all the time, every day.
Less used items can go in the back, down the bottom or right up the top (except for heavy items).

Decluttering Tip #73
Donāt worry, there is no right and wrong way of doing it. This is your home and your lifestyle. Add in your own quirk and tradition. As long as you can maintain it and it brings peace to your home, go for it. It just has to make sense to you and your family.

Decluttering Tip #71
It is a lifelong journey of being intentional with the things you buy and keep. Mt. Stuff will keep growing if we donāt stop to think about what weāre adding to our home and what you have outgrown - the season of babies may have passed, hobbies weāre no longer pursuing, upgraded technology (does anyone still own a VCR anymore? Then why are we still holding on to tapes?), the cupboard of broken things that we promised weāll fix one day (meanwhile, youāve replaced it already).
You are allowed to let things go. Its usefulness has passed.
Be intentional with what youāre now putting in your home as well.

Decluttering Tip #70
Sometimes itās not just our physical space that needs a cull. Our schedules can also be overpacked and overwhelming. Consider what is important to your family. We had a family meeting and discussed what is important to us as a family, so we do things that reflect it and we say no to things that go against it. Donāt put things in your schedule because of FOMO.
This is our familyās values and we decide to do or not do things based on this. We just started this year and itās been working so far. Weāre being more intentional with our time.
What's important to you and your family?

Decluttering Tip #69
āConsistency at home is key to developing the rhythms and graces that will help you keep your sanity and help your children grow up into their best selves.ā Emily Ley
Do yourself a favor and get your kids involved, even when theyāre tiny. Teach them good habits that they can take with them into adulthood. Cull with them and organise with them. This breeds contentment and gratitude. Teach them to have one activity out at a time. This breeds independence.
Iāve been doing this with my kids since they were little (4yrs old I think) and each year the process has become more efficient. They have their own ideas of how things should be organised so it works for them. It has given them ownership of their things.
This is my son in the picture decluttering his bookshelf all on his own, unprompted.

Decluttering Tip #68
Itās as much about our habits as it is about being organised. You can have the best system in place but if itās not made according to your habits and if you donāt discipline yourself to follow the system, itās not going to work.
Get your family involved. Our bare minimum is having our entryway and our dinner table clear, so this is what we enforce. The kids know the rules. They may huff and puff about doing it but it gets done because they know why. The entryway needs to be clear of their toys and bags because we want to be able to walk in and out without having to trip over anything (and also, in case of emergency). The dining table needs to be clear because having dinner together as a family is important to us.
You donāt have to do it all yourself - get your family in on it too.

Decluttering Tip #67
Consumerism problem: We own more than we need and each item takes our attention away from the item next to it - Emily Ley
This is why we get so overwhelmed with clutter. It is like every item has a voice demanding attention. It makes us distracted with all the ānoiseā and takes our focus away on what is important.
