If you had the technology to stop an electrical fire from starting in your home would you want access to it? AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices) are now available to the people of Australia!

Many countries around the world are already using them and in some regions they are mandatory including our neighbours in New Zealand.

What are they?

Much like a safety switch, it’s installed by an electrician into your switchboard. It simply trips the circuit out if it detects an arc fault such as loose connections, damaged or crushed cable or a faulty device such as cheap power boards. Standard Safety switches don’t detect arcing. AFDDs do.

It’s your choice. House fires are not a thing of the past. You can rely on your smoke alarms or you can reduce the risk of fire before it escalates. Prevention is always better than cure. This technology is now available and we now have the choice and power to use it. Get in touch if you want further information or have concerns regarding the electrical safety of your home.

Check out the AFDD install from this week in the photo below! This client now has superior protection for their property. The AFDDs are protecting the general power outlets throughout this home and it was retro fitted into the existing switchboard.
