Just two sisters, living their best life.
Why we crate train.
According to both professional dog trainers and veterinarians crate training is one of the quickest and least stressful to instil desirable behaviours in dogs.
Crate training correctly will satisfy a dogs instinct to be in a den- creating a safe haven and a calm space.
Because dogs (especially French Bulldogs) are highly social, it’s important they spend most their time indoors. Your dog needs to feel that he/ she is part of the family. Your dog needs to feel like they belong, they’re included and living in the house even when their family isn’t home.
Crate training allows you to leave your pup at home, inside and safe while you’re away or unable to supervise them. This stops unsupervised chewing, digging and jumping/ escaping fences.
Benefits for you, as a guardian/ owner:
• Leaving your dog home alone, knowing they are safe nothing can be soiled or destroyed. Your dog is protected and not developing bad habits
• Dogs do not like to soil their sleeping quarters- thus crate training and establishing a regular toileting routine helps house training. This encourages bladder control and a way for your pup to signal you for the need to go outside.
• Creates adaptability to strange surroundings, being familiar with your dogs “security blanket” the crate.
Benefits for your dog:
• Privacy and security of a den to retreat to when tired, stressed or not well.
• Easier to learn to control bowel and bladder and the association of only toileting outdoors.
• Less stress when a change to the environment is made eg: dinner party, lots of people, new animal introduction
