What an amazing show of support today. I feel so humble after the lovely conversations, well wishes and words of wisdom! ‘Jump and the universe shall hold you’ I’m breathing into this sentiment. Truely, you all make me feel big feelings. What a joy to be connected through these threads of humanness. Perhaps your pieces will remind you of a time or a place or a person and continue the precious threads.
Thank you to Clair and Dean and the TGAM team along with Felons for supporting local artists. This market has an enormous positive impact on makers.
Next stop Aotearoa New Zealand!

Thanks to these wonderful humans for the past two years making at our Bench Studio in Yeronga. I am sad to be leaving the workshop, it was an awesome setup.
Thanks to those of you who came and purchased some discounted pieces yesterday. I really appreciate your support and all those uplifting well wishes. My heart is full! And a little heavy with the weight of leaving.
This Saturday 28th I will be at The Great Artist Market. I have loads of stock and will be offering 20% - 30% discount across my entire collection because I’m off to live in Aotearoa for a while!

See you tomorrow at Bench for my clear out sale! I’m heading off to NZ and I have to sell all my work before I go. Your opportunity to nab some of these pieces at reduced prices.
See you tomorrow at Shed 15, 133 Hyde Rd Yeronga. Plenty of parking at the back of the complex!
We are vacating our workshop, and are also selling their beautiful pieces!

It’s time for us to vacate the workshop at Hyde Rd, so we are having a sale!
If you have had your eye on something, now is your opportunity. I will discount all my staple pieces, plus one of a kind pieces and show pieces including this necklace series.
Customs and tax requirements in Aotearoa mean it will be very expensive to take my stock with me. So I have decided to offer everything at reduced prices. Starting at 20% off and increasing for bundle buys.
This is an in person opportunity only. I’m so sorry to those who can’t make it this Saturday. There will be another opportunity to purchase bargains at The Great Artist Market the following Saturday 28th March. Sadly I had to put all of my post packaging in storage and cannot post out orders.
Bench resident artists and will also be clearing out their drawers.
For those of you who can come, I appreciate your support immensely!
I look forward to seeing you soon,
Michelle
Isn’t this mesmerising? The sea is so loud. So unexpected. So different every day.

Oh the colours of Australian opals! It was my sincere pleasure to create this piece involving heirloom stones to be loved and worn in a contemporary setting. The opals are traditional doublets from the 70’s. Scroll through to see original settings and damage. A doublet is a thin slice of crystal opal, bonded to a stable black backing that was often resin. The process reduces the cost of the gem without decreasing the beauty and is still used today. Although not a solid opal, they are still real and incredible examples of gemstones unique to Australia.
In a playful way, my client wanted to mix her metals up. So we went for rose gold and silver combination here. The pentagon shaped stone was quite damaged and required re-cutting. Opals are soft and easily damaged, hence the fully enclosed bezel settings that are curved to meet the backing shapes of the stones.
I love the way these gems show different colours in various light. What a fun commission this was last year.
