The Next Chapter of Home Ownership Won't Look Like the Last 18/06/2026

We are so lucky to be surrounded by passionate and committed smart people like Mark who are working hard to create the space for the CLT model to prove itself. Take a minute to read his blog post - it's insightful and inspiring in equal measure.

The Next Chapter of Home Ownership Won't Look Like the Last Australia's housing market is shifting. Interest rates remain high and economists broadly expect them to stay elevated for some time, growth has slowed and some major-city markets are softening, and the May Budget's changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax are reshaping how investors weigh

Love this. And we are so looking forward to our first demonstration site which offers Bellingen Shire locals who are priced out the same security

Huge bouquet to Bellingen Shire Council for their commitment to support local housing solutions. The Community Land Trust model is new to Australia and offers a solution for people on local incomes who are priced out. The Council decision this week is a huge leap forward. We know there is one more important round of community consultation, but we can almost see people unpacking their boxes.

Bellingen Shire councillors voted to progress plans to sell the Ferry Street lot, valued at $750,000 to the Waterfall Way Community Land Trust (WWCLT), a not-for-profit that owns and manages land to support community needs.

WWCLT executive officer, Kerry Pearse says the 2,000m2 lot could create up to seven new affordable homes, offering a co-ownership model for people on local incomes, where the land is held in trust and residents own the home structure.
