The journey to pregnancy starts before you even start trying.

Preparing your body at least three months before you begin trying to conceive can set the foundation for a healthy pregnancy. That means seeing your GP or a fertility specialist to discuss pre-pregnancy screening, any underlying medical conditions, lifestyle modifications, and whether genetic carrier screening is right for you.

Taking these proactive steps before you start trying isn't about overthinking it — it's about giving yourself the best possible foundation for a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby.

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, and this week is Men's Health Week in Australia. So let's talk about something that doesn't get nearly enough airtime.

Fertility treatment is mostly physically done to women. But it's emotionally happening to both of you.

Research consistently shows male partners also experience anxiety, grief, and helplessness during fertility treatment — yet most support structures, clinic appointments, and online communities are centred on the female experience. Men are often expected to be the support person, while quietly carrying their own loss, fear, and uncertainty.

If you're that man right now, here's what actually helps:

Name it. "I'm struggling too" is not weakness — it's honesty. It is ok to seek support, you don’t have to be the strong one all the time. Sometimes your hurt can validate hers.

You don't have to perform strength through this. Showing up and falling apart are not opposites. Please know that you too have access to counselling support at Genea if you are having treatment with us.

Save this if it resonates. Share it with someone who needs it.

Men's Health Week is a reminder that men's health, including fertility deserves attention all year round.

One thing many men don't know: s***m is constantly renewing. The full cycle takes around 70 days, which means the lifestyle choices you make today directly influence your fertility in the months ahead.

Things like sleep, stress, nutrition, and exercise all play a role.
If you and your partner have been trying to conceive, or you simply want to understand your fertility better, a fertility assessment is a great first step. Our team can help you get a clear picture of where things are at — no referral needed.

This Men's Health Week, make your health a priority.

This Men's Health Week, the national message is simple: check in early, take your health seriously.

Across Australia, men are less likely to see a GP and more likely to wait until things get worse, leading to more complex issues, longer recovery, and unnecessary stress for them and the people who love them.

The same pattern shows up in fertility. In around 1 in 3 cases of infertility, a male factor is involved, yet men are often the last to be assessed.

A male fertility assessment is more than a fertility test. S***m health can be an early signal of hormonal, cardiovascular and metabolic wellbeing too, making it a meaningful health check-in well beyond the question of starting a family.

If you or your partner have been thinking about it, now is a good time to take that step. Bulk-billed fertility assessments are available at Genea.

No two paths to parenthood look the same, so why should the care look the same either?

Some journeys are quick. Some are long. Some involve IVF, some donor support, some genetic testing, some a second opinion after years of trying. Some are joyful. Some are heavy. Most are both.

At Genea, your care is built around you- your story, your body, your hopes, your timeline. Backed by world-leading science and a team that genuinely listens.

Because the goal isn't just a result. It's your family, however it's meant to look.
