🚨 Safety Alert 137 Released – DC Electric Shock
A new EGT Safety Alert has been issued following a recent incident involving a first-year apprentice receiving a DC electric shock while undertaking solar installation works
This alert highlights the risks associated with solar DC cabling, particularly the fact that cables can become live immediately once connected to an array exposed to light. It reinforces the importance of:
⚡ Following correct work sequences
⚡ Not energising systems prematurely
⚡ Clear instruction and direct supervision
⚡ Understanding that solar DC cannot be isolated like typical LV circuits
Remember your ABC – Assume nothing. Believe no-one. Check everything.
All apprentices and host employers are encouraged to read Safety Alert 137 in full and discuss it on site.
Read it here: https://bit.ly/3PqEeIC
If you have questions, contact EGT on (08) 6241 6100 or speak with your Field Officer.

An extraordinary achievement by one of our own.
ETI is proud to recognise EGT apprentice Samson Swift, who has completed the MindTheHundred ultramarathon, running 100km in one day to raise awareness and funds for mental health.
Samson completed the run in just under 15 hours and helped raise over $9,300 for the Black Dog Institute, supporting important mental health research, resources and suicide-prevention work.
For Samson, this challenge was about more than distance. It was about encouraging people, particularly young men and those working in trades, to speak up, check in on their mates and know that support is available.
Completing a 100km ultramarathon takes discipline, resilience and a serious amount of grit. Using that challenge to help others makes the achievement even more meaningful.
Congratulations, Samson. A remarkable effort, and one the whole ETI group is proud to celebrate.
