The best measure of progress isn’t what happens in a therapy session it’s what happens afterwards.
Functional capacity building helps turn therapy into real-world skills, whether that’s:
• Driving safely again
• Returning to hobbies you love
• Getting dressed independently
• Preparing meals
• Navigating the community with confidence
Functional capacity building focuses on developing the skills needed for everyday activities that matter most to each individual.

Can you guess where our CEO is heading for the next Össur Australia & New Zealand mobility clinic?
For most people, running is something we rarely think twice about.
For someone living with an amputation, it’s a milestone that can take years of rehabilitation, strength and persistence to reach.
Nearly two years after his amputation, Mark has been working on rebuilding his strength, stability, balance and walking pattern. An MPK (microprocessor knee) and becoming confident walking without a crutch or walking stick laid the foundation for this next step.
Learning to run isn’t about training for a marathon.
It’s about having the ability to respond when life demands it crossing a road safely, reacting in an emergency, keeping up with family, or simply knowing your body is capable.
These first running steps require trust in the prosthesis, confidence through the limb, strong core control and countless hours of practice.
Milestones like this don’t happen overnight. They are built through consistency, expert rehabilitation and a willingness to keep showing up.
We’re incredibly proud to be part of Mark’s journey.

Regulate is a small-group Occupational Therapy program for adults with disability who find their emotions can sometimes get in the way of everyday life. Whether it’s navigating relationships, participating in the community or feeling confident trying new things, this program is designed to help you build practical skills in a supportive environment.
Throughout the program, you’ll explore strategies including:
✨ Building body awareness and understanding what your body is telling you (interoception)
✨ Mindfulness and sensory-based regulation strategies
✨ Practising new skills through real-life scenarios in a safe and supportive group setting
Rather than simply learning what emotional regulation is, you’ll discover why emotions affect us the way they do and how to use practical strategies in everyday life. Our OT Laghima focuses on helping you understand yourself, build confidence, and apply these skills in the moments that matter most.
If you’d like to learn more about Regulate or see if it’s the right fit for you, we’d love to chat send an email [email protected]
Over the weekend we attended the Össur Australia & New Zealand mobility clinic here in Perth!

Led my experiences amputee coaches and support by the Ossur ambassadors including our very own Sam Hallam.
We’re looking forward to the Ossur Mobility Clinic on snow this August!
Seeing adults discover what they’re capable of on their very first run with a prosthetic. Watching a young girl run, jump and smile from ear to ear on a running blade for the first time. And, of course, seeing everyone come together for an Australian classic the Nutbush. 💃
Watching confidence grow with every step was something truly special.
That’s what the Össur Australia & New Zealand Mobility Clinic is really about.
It was a privilege to be part of a day that celebrated possibility, challenged limits and reminded us that the right support can open doors to experiences people may never have thought possible.
A huge thank you to Össur for creating opportunities like this and for your ongoing commitment to helping people live a life without limits.

💬 This week’s perspective
The other day, Trish laughed and said she always forgets to work on her arms.
As a lower leg amputee, you’d think her focus would be on her legs. But her arms are what help her get out of bed, transfer safely, get in and out of the car, and navigate so many everyday tasks. That’s why building upper body strength is just as important.
It was such a simple comment, but one that reminded us how important upper body strength is for maintaining independence.

Often, anger isn’t the first emotion we feel. It’s the one that shows up after stress, overwhelm, anxiety, disappointment or frustration have been building unnoticed.
That’s why awareness is such an important first step.
Our Regulate group program, led by an Occupational Therapist, helps participants:
• Identify emotions before they escalate
• Recognise the body’s early warning signs
• Build emotional awareness
• Learn practical regulation strategies they can use in everyday life
If emotional regulation has always felt impossible, maybe no one has ever taught you how.
