Still Aware
Still Aware is Australia's first stillbirth awareness charity. Working to end preventable stillbirth since 2014. Many of these deaths are preventable.
In Australia, 6 babies are born without breath everyday. That equates to 2,190 babies born still in Australia each year. Stillbirth is the leading cause of infant death in this country. Still Awareβs mission is to end preventable stillbirth through awareness and education. Still Aware is the first internationally recognised not-for-profit charity solely dedicated to ending preventable stillbirth,

Most people don't find out about these until it's too late. Thank you to Jamie Logan from βBump and Mindβ reminding us of the these 5 daily habits could protect your baby and every pregnant woman needs to know them. π

βοΈ From 28 weeks, sleep on your side, either side is fine, just not your back
βοΈ Noticed any changes? Call your care provider straight away, do not wait
These five things take minutes. They could save your baby's life.

A healthy pregnancy. No warning signs. No reason to fear the worst.
And yet, Nikita came home without her baby girl. ποΈ
Ella was born at 35 weeks due to fetomaternal haemorrhage, a rare but devastating condition where a baby's blood silently passes into the mother's circulation.
There is no handbook for this kind of grief.
There are no words that make it easier.
But there is this, her name, said out loud.
**Ella.** Forever loved. Never forgotten. π
We share her story not just to grieve, but to drive the research, awareness and change that means fewer families face what Nikita faced.
π Say Ella's name in the comments. She deserves to be remembered.
π Share this post β awareness is everything.
A finding that challenges what we thought we knew about blood pressure in pregnancy. π
Research has shown that women with borderline low blood pressure were at a higher risk of stillbirth, compared to women with really high blood pressure, who were actually at a decreased risk because of closer monitoring.
High blood pressure is a well-known, actively monitored risk factor. Women are typically delivered when blood pressure becomes too high and too out of control. Because of that level of clinical attention, it was not identified as a risk factor in this study.
Borderline low blood pressure, however, tells a different story. Professor Jane Warland explains hereβ¦.

Sarah almost didn't go to that appointment. π
Everything about her pregnancy was normal. Routine. No red flags.
But something felt off, and she listened.
That decision saved Liam's life.
At 33 weeks, undetected pre-eclampsia was silently stealing his chance at life. Four hours after walking into that midwife appointment, Liam was born, breathing, fighting, here.
You are never wasting anyone's time.
You are your baby's first line of defence. πͺ

Trusting your maternal instincts can make a real difference during pregnancy.
You know your baby better than anyone else. If something feels different, unusual, or simply not right, it is important to contact your doctor or midwife immediately. Seeking advice early is always the right thing to do.
