Autism is trending.
But for many autistic people, daily experiences haven’t changed.
Autistic Pride Day is a global campaign led by autistic people—centred on identity, inclusion, and moving beyond awareness to meaningful action.
It’s a reminder that noticing autism is not the same as supporting autistic people.
At Autism SA, we support Autistic Pride Day and the voices of autistic people in shaping more inclusive communities, workplaces and systems.
Today is about listening to autistic voices, recognising lived experience, and focusing on what needs to change—across workplaces, systems, and communities.

Neurodiversity Pride Day – 16 June
Today is Neurodiversity Pride Day—a global movement celebrating neurodivergent people and the unique strengths they bring to our communities.
This day highlights that every brain is different, and that diversity in thinking, learning and experiencing the world is something to be valued and respected.
Whether you identify as neurodivergent, are supporting someone, or are continuing to learn—today is about:
• Pride
• Belonging
• Self-acceptance
• Community
Everyone deserves to be seen, heard and supported to be themselves.
Take time today to celebrate neurodiversity and reflect on how we can create more inclusive spaces for all.

Neurodiversity Pride Week (June 11–17)
This week recognises and celebrates the diversity of how people think, learn and experience the world.
Neurodiversity reminds us that differences such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and others are natural variations of the human brain—not deficits.
Neurodiversity Pride Week is a time to:
• Celebrate individual strengths and lived experiences
• Listen to and amplify neurodivergent voices
• Reflect on how we can build more inclusive communities
It’s also an opportunity to shift the conversation—from awareness to acceptance and appreciation.
At Autism SA, we are committed to supporting a world where neurodivergent people are recognised, valued and can thrive as their authentic selves.

Experiences of Needs Assessments Across the Lifespan – Community Consultations
Autism SA, supported by the Office for Autism, is undertaking research to better understand the experiences of autistic people, parents, carers, supporters and community members who have participated in needs assessments across the lifespan.
This includes experiences of autism diagnostic assessments, functional capacity assessments, occupational therapy assessments, speech pathology assessments, and other assessments used to identify support needs.
Information gathered through these consultations will inform the development of training and resources for therapists and other professionals involved in conducting needs assessments.
There are a range of ways to participate, including:
✅Focus groups
✅One-to-one interviews (phone, online or in person)
✅Text-based conversations
✅Video submissions
✅Surveys
We recognise that people communicate in different ways and are committed to providing flexible participation options.
As a thank you for your time and expertise, participants who take part in a voluntary consultation activity will be offered a gift card honorarium of between $20 and $150, depending on the activity.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the Expression of Interest form and a member of the project team will contact you to discuss suitable participation options.
