The first stage of the development of the new state-of-the-art Smith Motors crash repair and paint shop in Port Adelaide has been completed.

The Smith’s Bodyshop site in Lipson Street, Port Adelaide is one of the longest standing businesses in the group and is an integral part of One SMG's collision repair operations, serving our community of motoring customers and all major insurers since the 1950’s.

Another project in close collaboration with Mossop Construction & interiors, the redevelopment comprises a sparkling new facility constructed alongside the original Smith’s Body Shop workshop which has operated throughout the redevelopment process. The existing crash repair building will now be demolished to establish a new secure customer carpark. The new Smith’s Body Shop facility will offer cutting-edge crash repair technology and greater service capability as well as enhanced customer amenities, but most importantly, the same great service and attention to detail.

The new and improved Smith’s Body Shop is expected to be completed in September this year. Here are some images of the new site. We look forward to sharing further news on this exciting development.

OneSMG has made two key additions to its senior leadership team with Stephen Unerkov appointed Chief Financial Officer and Karen Prevost appointed as Group HR & WHS Manager.

With 18 businesses across Australasia, One SMG (formerly Smith Motor Group) was founded more than 100 years ago in Port Adelaide. It is a silent hero in the South Australian economy comprising 18 businesses, representing 17 brands and employing more than 300 people. Its companies comprise property, vehicle and caravan dealerships, fleet management & leasing and crash repair.

Karen Prevost has more than two decades of experience supporting people, culture, safety and compliance across automotive and commercial environments. Known for her decisive leadership and pragmatic approach, Karen is committed to fostering high-performing, safe, and accountable workplaces where both people and the business can continue to grow sustainably.

Stephen Unerkov has an impressive track record of strategic, operational, and commercial accomplishments; and now oversees the financial operations of all businesses within One SMG. He is a seasoned senior C-Suite executive with extensive international experience across US-listed multinational corporations, ASX, international private equity, private entities, and Not-For-Profit organisations. He has a proven track record in driving sustainable growth and enhancing operational and financial performance through growth leadership and implementing strategies.

OneSMG Managing Director Hans Ehmann said that Karen Prevost and Stephen Unerkov have the requisite experience and drive to guide the business through its next phase of growth.

“We continue to grow and expand our automotive businesses across Australasia and we’re bringing a range of redevelopments and large-scale property regeneration projects to fruition across the group,” explained Mr. Ehmann.

“Karen and Stephen will be instrumental to our success and mark a new chapter for OnsSMG, and I have no doubt they will deliver the results they are capable of.”

One SMG is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Unerkov as its new Group Chief Financial Officer.

Stephen brings a wealth of experience across finance and executive leadership roles, with a strong track record spanning multiple industries, including automotive.

Commenting on his appointment, Stephen said, “I look forward to supporting One SMG as Group Chief Financial Officer, leveraging its scale and growth trajectory alongside a strong heritage and clearly defined strategic direction.”

He added, “I am excited to support One SMG through its next phase of evolution.”
