Tax time is here, which means Australians everywhere are suddenly digging through handbags, gloveboxes and office drawers looking for their receipts 😅.
And then the tax-time questions start...
❓ Cents per kilometre or logbook method?
❓ What are the work-from-home rates again?
❓ Do those new tax cuts apply this year?
❓ Can someone just explain this in normal human language? 😂
Before you take advice from an fin-fluncer on TikTok, we’ve pulled together a comprehensive 2026 Australian tax guide.
It covers:
✅ What you can (and can’t) claim
✅ What the ATO is watching this year
✅ Tax surprises that catch people out
✅ Deadlines, penalties + tax changes
Disclaimer: MyBudget does NOT do tax returns ⛔️. This is just general info to help you feel less confused at tax time.

But what if the biggest financial wins had nothing to do with your tax return? 🤔
Every year, Australians focus on deductions, receipts and tax refunds. But according to our Founder, Tammy Barton, the biggest improvements to your finances often come from something much simpler: better money habits.
In her latest article, Tammy shares five practical money moves that can help you feel more confident, more prepared and more in control of your finances.
✅ Review where your money is going
✅ Check in on your financial wellbeing
✅ Reduce one unnecessary expense
✅ Strengthen your emergency fund
✅ Set one meaningful money goal
Because while a tax refund might help for a few weeks, better money habits can help for years.

Imagine opening your phone to a text from an ex-staff member who left your team over 7 years ago, just to say: "I still use my budget every single day and I couldn't live without it." 🥹
That is exactly what happened to our Founder, Tammy, earlier this week when Naomi reached out personally!
Hearing that our service is still providing total control and financial peace of mind to Naomi close to a decade later completely blew us away! 🫶
Thank you so much for reaching out, Naomi. We are absolutely thrilled to know you're still loving our service!
Once a part of the MyBudget family, always a part of the MyBudget family 💙.

June 30 is coming fast but for everyone juggling busy careers, family, and everyday life, EOFY doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
Follow these 5 tips to stay organised 💸🧹.
🧾 1. Know the 2026/27 tax rules: The new $1,000 instant tax deduction applies to the 𝑛𝑒𝑥𝑡 financial year. You still need your receipts sorted for this year's lodgment!
📱 2. Go digital: Use the Australian Taxation Office's app 'myDeductions' to snap photos of paper receipts now so you aren't digging through your car glovebox in July.
🛑 3. Audit subscriptions: Many annual memberships and insurances renew in June. Take 10 minutes to scan your bank statements and cancel the ones you no longer use
⏳ 4. Super deadlines: Planning a personal contribution? It must be 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑒𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑑 by your fund before June 30 to count for this year. Don’t let bank processing times trip you up
📊 5. Reset your budget: Review your fixed vs. variable spending over the past year to build a realistic map for the next 12 months
Which of these are you ticking off your list first? Let us know below, or tag someone who needs an EOFY reminder! 👇
