“The Mothers” honours the archetypal women who hold the four corners of a hope-filled humanity. Emerging from luminous pools of colour and interconnected lines, their forms embody both ancestry and future, carrying stories that shape and sustain us.

The vibrant interplay of sea blue, turquoise, deep pink and orange, with gold, speaks of elemental forces — water, fire, earth, and spirit — unified through the presence of the mother.

This work is a meditation on the timeless role of mothers as creators, protectors, and visionaries, whose quiet strength anchors the human journey. - Elizabeth Ellames

Artists Statement | Kaleidoscope of Life - Elizabeth Ellames 💫 In this piece, I reflect on the restless movement of living — the way our stories, memories, and identities shift, and reform over time.

The black lines act as embedded code, a framework that holds bursts of colour and gesture as vessels.

The painting resists closure, inviting instead a sense of continual motion. Like a turning kaleidoscope, each shift reveals a new arrangement, a new perspective.

For me, it is a reminder that life’s vitality lies in its capacity to transform, endlessly reassembling itself into patterns both unpredictable and beautiful.

THE TREE MOTHERS
This painting continues my exploration of organic forms expressed through my signature gold branching. More than an aesthetic gesture, these branching lines act as a transmissional code—a language that informs and connects all of creation. Flowing like roots or veins, they remind us of the unseen architecture of life, where every being is interwoven into the same luminous design.

The interplay of pink, black, orange, red, earth, and gold evokes the presence of ancient matriarchs—guardians of wisdom, resilience, and renewal.
Through this work, I honour the maternal essence as both timeless and universal, and I invite the viewer to feel into the codes of connection that continue to shape and sustain life.
