As parents, carers, and busy humans, our own needs are often the first thing to fall to the bottom of the list.

We spend so much time caring for everyone else that we can forget to check in with ourselves.

Over time, this can leave us feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and exhausted.

When our internal resources are running low, we may find ourselves responding from a reactive place rather than a calm and connected one.

Perhaps our fuse feels a little shorter.

We snap at the kids more easily.

We feel frustrated, impatient, or emotionally stretched.

Not because we're failing, but because we're running on empty.

One of the most important things we can do is intentionally resource ourselves throughout the day.

This doesn't need to be complicated or time-consuming.

It might be:
🌿 Taking a few slow, conscious breaths.
🌿 Stepping outside and feeling the sun on your face.
🌿 Enjoying a mindful cup of tea.
🌿 Going for a short walk.
🌿 Taking a moment to place a hand on your heart and check in with yourself.
🀀󟰠Listening to a guided meditation before bed.

Small moments of mindfulness can help regulate our nervous system, replenish our emotional reserves, and bring us back to ourselves.

And when we learn to care for our own wellbeing, we model something incredibly valuable for our children — that self-care is not selfish, it's essential.

What mindfulness resource could you invite into your day this week?

And if you're feeling overwhelmed, please know you don't have to carry it all on your own.

You are not alone.

Reach out and let's talk about how I can support you. 💚

When you’re always putting yourself last 🌿

Perfectionism and people-pleasing may feel like second nature:
always trying to get it right, keep the peace, and make sure everyone else is okay. 💭

But over time, this might come at a cost.
Your own needs get pushed aside, rest feels undeserved, and you’re left feeling drained, overwhelmed, and disconnected from yourself.

These patterns may often begin as ways of staying safe, accepted, or in control - but they don’t have to define you forever. 🤍

It’s possible to learn a different way.
One where you can care for others without losing yourself in the process. 🌸

Through counselling and mindfulness, I can support you in gently understanding these patterns, building self-awareness, and learning to set boundaries with compassion and confidence.

If this feels familiar to you, I'd love to provide you with personalised support.

Receiving feedback like this is such a beautiful reminder of why I do this work. 🌿

The Restoring You Program was created as a space for women to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and learn practical tools to support their wellbeing beyond the sessions themselves.

Knowing that Fiona has been able to carry these practices into her daily life is exactly what this work is about — creating gentle, sustainable changes that continue long after the program ends. 💭

Thank you, Fiona, for your kind words and for allowing me to be part of your journey.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply longing for more calm and balance in your life, I'd love to support you. ✨

Negative thoughts happen to all of us - but thoughts are not facts.

Our minds are constantly processing experiences, emotions and memories, and sometimes the loudest thoughts aren't the truest ones. Learning to notice them without immediately believing them can create space for more clarity, compassion and calm. 🤍

Observe. Pause. Breathe.

Such wisdom appeared through this message today hoping it may resonate with you too ✨ Trusting the Unseen ✨

So often, our minds tell us that we need certainty before we can feel calm, safe, or at peace. We search for answers, explanations, and guarantees, believing that understanding everything will quiet the noise within.

Yet some of life’s most beautiful gifts ask something different of us.

The seed buried beneath the soil cannot see the orchard it will one day become. The star shining in the night sky does not explain itself, yet its light still inspires wonder, hope, and guidance.

There are seasons when life feels uncertain, when we cannot see the path ahead or understand why things are unfolding as they are. In these moments, perhaps peace is not found in knowing, but in trusting.

Trusting that growth is happening beneath the surface.
Trusting that the difficult season will not last forever.
Trusting that even when we cannot see the whole picture, we are still being guided forward.

May you allow the relief of trust to soften your heart today. 💛

🌿 Reflective Question:
What would change for you if, instead of needing certainty, you chose to trust yourself and the unfolding of your journey?

How smartphones impact the developing brain 📱

Smartphones have become a normal part of everyday life - but for children, their brains are still developing in ways that make them especially sensitive to stimulation. 💭

Early and frequent exposure can impact focus, impulse control, and emotional regulation, as the brain adapts to fast-paced content, instant rewards, and constant input.

This doesn’t mean technology is “bad” - but it does mean that timing, boundaries, and guidance matter. Waiting a little longer, and supporting children in building strong foundations first, can make a meaningful difference. 🤍

In this post, I’ve shared some gentle recommendations to help you navigate this space with more clarity and confidence.

Many of us may notice different parts of ourselves showing up at different times.

Perhaps there is a part that worries.
A part that strives to get everything right.
A part that avoids conflict.
A part that withdraws when life feels overwhelming.
A part that works hard to keep everyone else happy.
Or a part that tries to keep you safe in the only way it knows how.

The parts that show up for you will be uniquely yours.
Sometimes we may judge these parts.
Sometimes we might fear them.
Sometimes we wish they would simply disappear.

But what if these parts are not the problem?
What if they developed for a reason?
What if, beneath the anxiety, self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or withdrawal, there is a part of you trying to protect you from pain, rejection, uncertainty, or hurt?

In Internal Family Systems (IFS), we learn that these parts are not all of who we are. They are aspects of us that have developed over time, often carrying important stories and protective roles.

Rather than pushing them away, we can begin to turn towards them with curiosity.
We can befriend them.

We can listen to what they may be trying to tell us.

When we create space to notice our parts, rather than becoming consumed by them, something begins to shift.

We gain understanding.

We develop compassion for ourselves.

And we discover that we are so much more than any one thought, feeling, emotion, or reaction.

What part of you might be asking for a little understanding today? 🌿✨
