Idaeus does Cosplay

PAX Day 3 was WILD.

Who knew that we'd run into so many SEAF soldiers, let alone such a big turnout of Helldivers?!

I met so many awesome people today, and I can't believe how lucky we were to land in amongst such an awesome community.

Now, my mission is to turn these speedbuild cosplays into a more permanent thing. It's going to need an overhaul, but all good things in time!

Welcome to the SEAF!

I wasn't able to finish the Liberators for our SEAF group cosplay, but the armour is con ready, so that's what counts.

Cosplay weapons are always eye-catching, so it's important to me that I get this right; I need them to be at a standard that I can see happy with.

We plan to be wearing these cosplays on multiple occasions, Supanova is also around the corner, so I'm not worried about missing out on bringing them to PAX.

I'll probably get back to working on them again as soon as I get home. They're going to be great, you'll see! 😉

Whelp, I wasn't able to get rifles done in time, but I think that and I did a damn fine job in getting four sets of armour, and all the clothing, together in time for PAX.

I'll just have to finish off those liberators for Supernova at the end of the month! Who's keen for PAX this weekend?

Every year...

I've been working hard with this weekend. Most of the armour is nearing completion. The clothing has been bought and is making its way through the post.

So now it's time to make a squad's worth of liberators. I decided to start with the handles because they're often the more complex part of a prop weapon and can make or break the build.

As I suspected, getting them to my satisfaction required no small amount of creative cutting and assembly. Please feast your eyes on the stage by stage photos I took during the process.

The target is 4 Rifles, but we made 6 handles for redundancy, the fact that we had excess material on hand, so 2 more didn't really slow us down much.

Not to mention, there's the potential for making two more props at a later date for when the squad gains more recruits!

I've just completed a commission for Magni, who will be challenging the current PWSA champion this Saturday night at Greenwith Community Centre.

I'm under the pump for Avcon, so I'll save my WIP posts on this bad boy for next week. But I was so stoked with the final result that I couldn't resist sharing this on social media. I think I did alright!

I had a wonderful weekend at Oz-Comic Con 2025! Thank you to everyone who made it so! I only wish I didn't leave my phone behind on Sunday, and i took more photos!

Got to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones. Everyone was dressed to slay. What more could I ask for?
