Spotify Wrapped got me this year…

Not with my most-played artist, but with their new “Listening Age” feature.

It told me I’m 23 years older than I am (thanks, Spotify), and my friends had similar… issues.

But from a marketing perspective? Brilliant.

It was funny, personal, wildly shareable, and one of their most viral Wrapped moments yet.

A reminder that in the subscription era, the brands that win aren’t just the ones with great products - they’re the ones that create great moments.

Macquarie Dictionary has named their word of the year for 2025....

'AI slop'

Not a very nice sounding word of the year. I much preferred 2014's 'mansplain', and 2024's 'ensh*ttification' myself.

But 'AI slop' is an interesting one, as it refers to the 'digital content made with generative artificial intelligence, specifically when perceived to show a lack of effort, quality or deeper meaning, and an overwhelming volume of production'.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using AI tools in your business - heck, I use on them daily! However, there’s no substitute for the context and lived experience a human being can bring. Simply copying and pasting social media posts, blog articles, or entire marketing strategies generated by AI can be risky, and can fall short on delivering genuine value.

Meta have today announced that you can now add 5 links in your Instagram bio. Woo hoo! 🎊

Possibly one of their most requested features, this now means that businesses and brands can pick the 5 most popular pages of their website and provide those links in their bio - making it simple and easy for users go directly to the area they want.

April Fool’s Day tends to bring out the clever marketers, and 2023 hasn’t disappointed with some very amusing social media posts appearing through my feed today.

Reflecting today on how awesome last Thursday was.

I was invited by Executive Coach Priya Robert to present to 8 of her clients - all wonderful, South Australian businesses - on the topic of eCommerce Marketing Strategies.

As a marketer and avid online shopper, this was a dream! 💜

There's nothing better than seeing people jotting down notes and having those "ah ha!" moments, but the best part for me was the group collaboration where everyone helped each other.

Plus I got to see all of their products in real life 😍
